7 years Sober in AA and really struggling
Hi my names is James and I am a recovering alcoholic. I am really struggling with AA in general this is due to having a form of Aspergers Syndrome. I used to love AA and the people in it but last year or so I have had a few struggles. I live in a place where hardly anyone is on a program or willing to sponsor me due to me having Aspergers Syndrome and being on medication members refuse to recognise my sobriety We don't have a very strong fellowship here. There are not many AA events, just lots of meetings.
The people I know in AA don't have time for a friendship with me. They won't pick up their phone or call me back anymore. They say they are too busy working. We're not even friends anymore. And like I said before, if I talk about my problems in sobriety and not having social success, they just blame it on me and have little or no sympathy.
I hate it but I can't help but have a fatalist perspective on my problems. I see zero change coming in the short term

I am different enough- docs thought I was a candidate for asp. I do not have family support. I spend hours at SR every day- ghosting. Reading anything and everything. There is over a decade of stories, narratives- wise words.

Welcome James! I have quite a few 24 hours in AA and I'm saddened to hear you're not getting the support you need. I hope you do find it here, SR is a great community, and I encourage you to continue your face-to-face meetings and keep the focus on your recovery.

The AA group by me is always changing, in just a few months it can go from a fun group of people to a whole bunch of jerks, then the jerks stop showing up and a fun group forms again as new people come in .
Maybe you can just wait it out, as I type this I was thinking how many times the AA groups by me flipped.
