Struggling and exhausted

Depression is not new to me, I've struggled with it all my life. Even as a child. But never have I lacked motivation to the point where it's a struggle to even have a shower or brush my teeth or get dressed- until now.

I've been to see gp, they can't increase my current meds for medical reasons so the options are to switch to a new med (which would involve coming completely off this one before starting another and then hoping the new one agrees with me which is a gamble) or counselling which is the option I've gone for. However I have no idea how long it will take before it happens and I've had counselling in the past which hasn't really helped.

I feel stuck.

I hope this round of counselling will be better Mavis.
Not all counsellors, or approaches, are the same.

I know this too well. About to start tanning 3 times a week...not for the tan, but for the huge boost of vitamin D. Hoping this will help. I remember feeling more energy the last time I tanned in college (some 15-20 years ago).

Hi Mavis,

Have you ever seen a psychiatrist for psych med prescribing and monitoring? Not that your GP is not great, but I have found that a close relationship with a psychiatrist has the potential to make addressing depression and mental health a sort of art form. Instead of treating with broad strokes, there is the potential to fine tune and watch closely for improvement and changes.

Sorry you are not feeling well.

Hi Mavis,
I also agree with the above. I love my shrink. I don't know if it's the route you want to go, but for me, it has been a lifesaver to know that there are professionals out there who are trying to understand, and help, people who are dealing with these problems.

I got diagnosed with depression at 12 they prescribed me wellbutrin but it said don't drink alcohol with it so I quit it within a week cause I drank on the weekends. My current medication is working very good hope you find a recovery plan that makes your depression go away. I know what its like to get depressed and not shower or brush your teeth I was going like four days not showering or brushing my teeth when I almost commited suicide. Glad I didn't do it cause I was then my parents came home . At night I prayed GOD help me and when I woke up my depression was gone.
