I'm back, and the doctor was amazing.

Um, I know it's not my writing hand, but there are a lot of things that I won't be able to do without a right index finger...like use scissors. Anyway, he was understanding and compassionate. Referred me to a counsellor that I will see next week.

But there is more, and it could be good news for me.

Long story short, the doctor I saw today is friends with the original surgeon who operated on my first bone tumor 25 years ago. He asked me if I would wait outside for a bit, and he called him.

My old orthopaedic surgeon is willing to see me straight away, and bulk bill.
Which they do not do...so wow.
There is a chance that they can resect the tumor without amputation.

I am seeing him on Monday.

And even if they can't do this, and fill the resected area with bone cement, I still prefer having this surgeon operate, because I trust him. And he is very kind.
He has privileges at the major public hospital here. I don't really understand how it would all work...but something about me being willing to have the surgery filmed...

I will take my sister with me to the appt Monday, because I can't seem to take in all of the information on my own.

I feel a lot calmer.
Being proactive is very helpful.
As is being sober!!

Thank you all for letting me talk about this.

V xx

Yes, you need a patient advocate, someone with a clear head, common sense, calm, who has all the questions, details.
You can use scissors with your dominant hand.

Ah Venus! This is wonderful news! I'm glad things are turning around in a positive way for you!

They make left handed scissors! Don't they? But still! It will be great if you keep your finger! Typing is where my mind goes when I think about it!

I always record my doctor visits on my phone! That way I can listen to them later for anything I missed.

Great wonderful news Venus! I know you are smiling now with the good thoughts!

Hmmmm....recording the doctor visit. Another brilliant idea.
(Or am I just dumb because I would never have thought of that! LOL).

I will buy some left-handed scissors if need be...my left hand doesn't know how to do any of that stuff. I write with it, and throw with it. That's about it. Growing up, playing softball, I always pitched with my left and batted with my right.

I'm a bit strange...but you all knew that already huh?

I started recording my doctor visits years ago! I get printouts of my doctor visits. I've seen several discrepencies in the notes and when I complained about it. I was told that's what I said. So now I record my visits so there's no more: Who said what business! Playing it smart is what I'm doing!

I suggested it to you though so you can listen to your conversations while in a more relaxed place and there's no interruptions!

Midnight my darling ~ thank you for the song you sent me.
Music is so healing...and yes, the panic floats away as I listen.

You and me both Venus! I see these stiff shirts walking around in herds to and from work. I think to myself! Lord I'm glad I'm NOT one of them!

Or watching a boss chewing someone out at their job! I want to ask the boss: "What makes you more special than your employee"?

Wow, I took a couple days off and missed some great news. I'm so happy to hear about your double doctor discussions! Amazing that things got connected up the way they did. Knowing and trusting a surgeon is so helpful when it comes to peace of mind. It sounds like you are feeling a lot more positive with some solid action plans in place. Hugs and love to you!

I'm a lefty too! I find lefties are more ambidextrous than most. I write, eat, cut stuff (like with scissors) with my left. I use my right hand or foot for anything sports related. I can shoot with either hand as the trigger hand...

Basically, you would learn pretty quickly how to do stuff with your other hand, I bet.

Thank you Bunny girl!! (((hugs)))

I have been thinking about you....and your thread.
I cannot believe how crazy I made myself by smoking grass again....seriously.
I was losing my mind, and it only took a few weeks.

Never again.

Love V xx

Thank you Jay ~ good to know.
I can adapt if I have to.
It really, really helps to talk this all through.

Fandy talked to me about my family, but they are not dealing at all with this.
Neither is my BF.

I am so blessed to have SR, and all of you. ♥

Oh, I can only imagine. Funny how it's supposed to be calming but I know if I was in your position, it would send me round the bend. All sorts of things would seem unmanageable and scary. It's ok though. I hope you don't have to go through any kind of withdrawal again. You'd been off it so long and had a such a fight to get where you were.

It's also funny that as strong as I am now and as much as I'd never go out and get weed, don't miss it at all... if it were downstairs on my table right now, I'd go and smoke it. I know I would!!! What kind of madness is that????? No high ground from me, only avoidance and celebration of being free.
