Seroquel

Can Seroquel be given for things other than Bipolar? My doctor took me off of ambien and gave me 300mg to take at night, it makes me super drowsy and helps me sleep.

I was thinking that too. How many miligrams do you take and what time of the day.

Basically I was on ambien and xanax but once it was brought to light that I have a drinking problem they stopped giving me those...

umm I take 50 in morning, 50 mg a supper, and 175 mg at night, I can also take 50 mg prn at lunch if I need it and I can tae an exta 25 mg at night if I'm having trouble sleeping.

ya xanax not good if you have addiction issues as it can be very addicting. Seroquel has really helped me, though it does have a weight gain side effect, at least for me it did.

At the detox center I was given 300mg Serquel XR for a sleeping aid. I got a scrip and within a week even 600mg wouldnt get me to sleep. I have always had sleeping problems and have taken every med available all of which seemed to lose their effectiveness within weeks. For the past two months I have been taking 5-HTP, GABA, velerian and a sleepy time tea at night and my sleeping patterns are much better.

ya I gained a ton of weight though I was underweight when I started taking it and my weight increased a bit got to like 130 then got on more meds and then now I'm at 200 lbs so ya seroquel made me gain a lot of weight, partly could be do to the fact I came off crack too and I was underweight before so when i gained weight I gained a lot it was bad. Maybe some of its my food habits I don't know, but I have doubled in weight from my lowest weight it's bad.

my doc gave it to me for a sleeping aid..works really well, except I find in the mornings I'm really groggy..and kinda makes me that way all day..so now I only take it when I go a few days without a good sleep....and not sure if the serqueol caused my weight gain or the lithium..but definetely gained some weight!!!

I take seriquil for borderline personaility disorder...and it has REALLY helped to stablelize my moods...thats why it was perscribed.

Of course I also sleep better.

I found ambient better as a sleep aid when i ws on it and i didn't have any trouble with ambient once i realized AS DIRECTED ment take it IMMEDIATELY prior to lying down to sleep.

On serequil I tend to struggle to get up in the morning, but I'm willing to deal with that issue as the intended effect of stabilizing my eratic moods is well worth it.

I think it's always best to speak with your Dr if you're unhappy with your meds or your treatment, rws177

I hope things are better since you've posted.

Though I'm afraid I'm growing tolerant to it in some ways, 25 mg used to knock me out, now I take 175 mg and I have trouble falling asleep. Even when I was taking 200 mg I came to have trouble falling asleep. Maybe it's just growing tolerant to the side effect but ya.
