Insomnia

I came off a major drinking binge toward the end of august and still have terrible insomnia. I was drinking about a half gallon (the large bottle) of vodka a day at the time and ended up in the cardiac ICU with alcohol induced heart failure. How long do you think this insomnia will last. I read the stuff on PAWS and it sounds like it could take a long time to get back to normal. Anyone else ever go through this?

Hi, Back...

I really don't know, but, you may get better answers to your questions in the alcoholism or alcoholism 12 step forums. Here's the links:

And here's some for the secular based recovery;

I wish you well.
Hope this helps!

Shalom!

There have been a few threads about this already. I'm sure they've sunk into thread oblivion.

I can tell you that the general answer around here is: it varies person to person.

I had insomnia years before I ever touched alcohol, and I'm not surprised that since I've (mostly) sobered up over the last couple months that my insomnia has not gone away with the rest of my withdrawal symptoms.
