I love how our Kathy lives on in all our hearts.

I smile at the wonderful way with words she had. I loved ‘hogs in slop’ a term she’d used to describe them eating their pizzas. I use it myself to my husband and always see her laughing. ❤️

I regret not having more conversations with her. I didn't want to overwhelm her, but I think I was too cautious.

I'm jealous that she gets to pet Jack when I can't, and sad that she is no longer here with us. I miss you Kathy. Give Jack a tummy rub for me - he likes those.

Grateful to have known Gilmer/Kathy’s spirit for a brief time and grateful that her consciousness lives on. I’m glad I found this and the grief and loss thread. I had just finished reading an amazing book (rare for me to finish a fiction these days) and I was looking to see if there was a book club thread. Stumbled upon these two sites instead. Read some of the grief and loss posts, then here. Gilmer always makes me think of my Uncle too. He had 30 years sobriety when he died from cancer. Just like Gilmer, he had inspired so many in the recovery community. Sort of became a spiritual guru. Didn’t know I was an alcoholic. He had depth, and he was funny like Gilmer could be too. Of course, all this made me think of my mom, my siblings, miscarriages, cats over the rainbow bridge, and others. I had a good cry.

Thanks for letting me ramble. I know you understand ❤️

Whenever I feel stuck, in anything in life, I ask myself "What would Kathy do?".

Sounds like a cliche, but it works for me. She was clear, simple, uncomplicated.

She is there somewhere, my guardian angel, and my world is a
better place for having known her.

She loved tulips! So do I.

Today I wrote "slow as molasses in January" and thought of Gilmer. She would have made some comment about mole a$$es.

It's getting on close to a year since Kathy died. I just felt this morning that I'm starting to take an true interest in the SR community again. For a long time it seemed empty to me here, though I didn't consciously know it was because of her loss. She really loved SR!

My sense of time is confused, thanks for correcting my mistake. I guess I think of August as her last "hurrah." Nothing after that was the same as it had been.

It was a strange mistake to make. I have to think about it. I'm glad you set me (and the thread) right on the date, venus.
