Quit you mean Vino?
Like everything else I do, I did the hard way.

I waited until my addictions nearly killed me.
https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...-part-one.html (Dee74's story - Part One)

I sometimes hesitate to share that story because I worry people will think well ok I'm not at that point, or I'm that bad - I can drink and smoke a little more....but the truth is I wish I'd quit years before I did.

Noone ever intends to be that all day everyday drinker, or the pot head, combing the carpet for left over crumbs of weed, but the process was inevotable for me while I was still drinking and smoking,

Some see hitting bottom as some event that happens - I think 'bottom' is simply the decision not to live your life in addiction one more second.

I found support here - and I wasn;t afraid tio change anythign in my life that tied me to addiction, That meant detaching from certain friemds, and finding new things to do with myself - at least for a while.

It sounds a massive task but once I committed it was way easier than I thought

My life today is miraculous and everything I ever wanted

Dee!!!

It was payday today. You know what my mind tried to convince me into? "Ok, you owe 20, buy weed for 20, tobbaco for 5 and alcohol for 5. It's 'only' 50, it won't matter."

Who thinks like that?! Luckily I didn't cave in so I didn't score anything! Nononono! No way! I put the 20 into envelope, threw it into the mailbox and noted the Guy. I've maneged to supress that heavy impulse so I won for today. It's just not worth it. I get gag reflex just thinking about it.

Hope everyone in the Quit team is doing strong. I wish you a nice and productive day!

You know what my mind is trying to convince me into? "Ok, you have xyzz amount of money. Why don't you just spend it all on drugs and alcohol and get sober once you are broke?"

Crazy. No way I am falling into this!!

I am sending you all positive vibes.

Nicely done! Congrats, that's an important win

Just keep going, you are doing great. Those crazy thoughts will fade in time and will be less and less tempting. Trust me I've been there.

Glad to know you are sleeping better, That's huge improvement. Your system is healing.

Congrats

Sleep actually wasn't problem this time (except for excessive sweating and vivid dreams). I had bad headache on day 2 and that was it. Nothing serious. For years I've kept myself in this prison just because of fear from withdrawal. How stupid.

When I smoked last time and went to bed I actually brought myself a mini panic attack (which didn't happen for years). Weird, morbid pictures flew through my head and I could not stop them. Felt like a really bad trip. And I payed money for that. OMG. Being sane is so much nicer!

How are you guys?

Hey Vino, glad to hear you are sleeping well, that's bliss.

Overall I'm doing more or less okay (considering), thanks for asking. Covid is rough around here, anxiety through the roof, sleepless nights sometimes. I'm inside my house for more than 3 months now (I only go to the supermarket and that's it), it's getting harder it seems. And it's probably going to be worse, so... buckle up I guess.

Regarding recovery, I'm doing absolutely great, fortunately
