Day 2

Hi, I am new, I smoked for 20 years. Every day for about 10, I am on day 2. I feel like I have to stop, but I can't really pinpoint why. It seems the last few years it doesn't work like it used to.

I was the same. I felt deep down that I needed to quit. I’m glad I did. You’re on the right track, keep going!

That's awesome. It's actually 21 yrs...does that matter? lol. I thought I was a goner, I felt like i had to keep 'medicated' 24/7 for a few years, like if I missed a day I would slide off the earth. I realized I didn't have any serious medical issues really at all, but in my mind I was vaguely treating some general aches, headaches, insomnia or connecting with Budda or something lol. But seeing all these people who have been there longer than me and were able to drop it gives me hope. so far so good on day 3. Thanks for being here.

Starting Day 5. Hasn't been as bad as I thought. A bit of sweats, temperature swings, muscles feel a bit tight.

Hi Breakdance and welcome to the forum.
I really think thoughts of quitting are worse than the actual quitting.
Great job on 5 days!

Hey Lynnmarie123...I was thinking that too. When your stuck in the haze it seems scary to leave it.

Hey guys, on day 11 now. still going, each day gets better. Longest break in a decade. Symptoms seem to be fading, still kinda weird to not have a 'go to' , have to actually manage my emotions when i get pissed off instead of just smoking it away. T

Day 12, starting to feel bored. Like I could have a little bit every now and then but I don't think that's an option. Plus the weekend. Just need new hobbies I guess.

I think you know it's not an option? If we could have a little bit now and again we wouldn't have ended up here on sober recovery.

I confused abstinence for control a lot of times. Don't do that.

You got this breakdancer1212. I hear on on it loosing it's luster, I was telling my best friend and long time smoking partner who gave it up in May this same thing just this morning. Many times I took a toke in these last couple of years and honestly felt worse. Perhaps its simply run it's course in my life like alchohol has.

Try to find something else to occupy your time, I started Jiu Jitsu and it's been wonderful for me.

PEACE! Keep it up, you got this.
