Favorite Quote today...

Recovery is a process, not an event!

And..If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got. Change the message and the results will change....

A few pearls of wisdom my first sponsor shared with me:

"You can save face or you can save your ass. Which is it gonna be?"

"Expect a Miracle!"

"There's hope in recovery for even us 'Evangelical Atheists!'"

"Unfortunately, your punctured ego isn't dead, it's just a flesh wound."

"Kill 'em with kindness!"

"How would it be possible to find out how far we can go in a lifetime, without occassionaly risking going too far"

"Unto thine ownself be True"

Cometh the hour, cometh the Man

Chance favors the prepared mind

When we stop dreaming, we start dying

Don't quit 5 minutes before the miracle

thanks all

I am a quote junkie, I appriciate all of the posts on here. So empowering! I will offer a few of my favorites....

If you suffer your people to be ineducated and their manners corrupted from infancy and then punish them for which their 1st education disposed them, what else is to be concluded, sir, is that you first make thieves and then punsih them-Everafter
(not really applicable to the disease concept, but a good one.)

You cannot leave everything to Fate, boy. She's got a lot to do. Sometimes you must give her a hand....(leonardo da vinci in everafter)

The greatest thing, you'll ever learn, is just to love, and be loved in return--Moulin Rouge

The following r random things Ive heard in aa that have stuck with me:

Just do the next right thing. God will handle the rest.

If u hang out in a barber shop, eventually u will get a haircut.

Ask for help.

Just for today.

rasin in the sun.....this one is powerful, thx for sharing. I think I may use it as an opening for family lecture, also good for the addict to maybe see his past as an accomplishment rather than a weight around thier neck....very awsome. want to see the play now.

Red face sweet soil of failure

"Failure stripped away everything inessential. It taught me things about myself I could have learned no other way." J.K. Rowling

This one really answers the question, Why do I have to fall so far or be a alcoholic to find god or start in a new direction.

'Nothing in the world is permanent, and we're foolish when we ask anything to last, but surely we're still more foolish not to take delight in it while we have it. If change is of the essence of existence one would have thought it only sensible to make it the premise of our philosophy.'
-W. Somerset Maugham

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I have several

A woman is like a teabag, you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water. - Elizabeth Roosevelt

what is life? It is the flash of firefly oin the night, it is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset. -Crow

all things are connected like the blood that unties us. We did not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. - Chief Seattle

I wish I could show you, when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own Being. -Hafiz

This one I just found today and I couldn't help but think - what happens if you don't get your wings built? -- just my wacky humor I guess - lol

sometimes you have to take the leap, and build your wings on the way done....

If two people could be one eagle, then things would be alright. It is what we strive for. To be an eagle alone is hard to bear, but it may be the plight of some.

'Some things we must accept, others we can change. The wisdom to know the difference comes with growth in our spiritual program. If we maintain our spiritual condition daily, we find it easier to deal with the pain and confusion. This is the emotional stability that we so badly need. With the help of our Higher Power, we never have to use again.'

Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way. -Martin Luther King Jr., civil-rights leader (1929-1968)

Illegal aliens have always been a problem in the United States. Ask any Indian. -Robert Orben, magician and author (b. 1927)
