Dreams are tiring ... too detailed and vivid

When there was an increase in Depakote my dreams were affected. Every adjustment in Depakote (increase or decrease) created violent, dark dreams. Because it was not efficient and created liver complications I got off it. Now I am on Lamictal and doing way better. The problem is sometimes I cannot decipher what was real or a dream. Luckily no more negative dreams like on Depakote.

I bring this up to my psychdoc all the time, and she wants to give me minipress (pill for nightmares/hypertension), but unfortunately, I actually have hypertension, and my primary doctor gives me certain meds for that which are rather effective. Cannot add another med.

In my head the only thing I can do is drastically cut down on tobacco/nicotine and caffeine because I hear that distorts dreams just like any other drug/drink would. Anyone else have this experience?

Hi One23 :)

The only experience I have with vivid dreams and nightmares is during alcohol withdrawal.

Its not a pleasant experience and not something I'd wish on anyone else so you're in my thoughts and best wishes. Hope you find a way to lessen or even eradicate the nightmare.s
