Sleep disorders

Hello all,
allow me to bitch. I have had sleeep issues my whole life. I've been sober several years and have grappled with this phenomenon of waking up around 3 am and being wide awake until 7 am . I lead a healthy life style and have tried cutting out sugars and caffeine and carbs and all that stuff to get better sleep,I take my magnesium daily and sleep aids if needed, I think the sleep issues are more ptsd related than food related but my therapist stI'll urges me to look for patterns (I'm pretty self reflectI've so I'm naturally prone to looking for patterns but have yet to find any).

Anyways I've finally found a really good sleep aid for me and have been sleeping really well for months but these past 2 nights I have had really triggering dreams that I wake up from and can't fall back to sleep until 7 am Again.
Today I have been up since 3 am and when I was finally nodding off someone starTed tree work on my street and Chain saws and other powee tools have been running all morning.
anyways just wanted to bitch . Hope somebody got better sleep than I last night

Hi greens, have you ever been evaluated by a sleep specialist / sleep study for possible physiological causes?

No I haven't that is an Interesting idea

Give it a try.

I have had one but found nothing other than the title for my type of insomnia.

Many people do suffer from sleep apnea and that can be treated.

Unfortunately, my doctor told me my sleep will probably not get any better due to my long years of imbibing.

I'm still doing research.

I have a serious sleeping disorder

Kris47 03-27-2016 12:27 PM

Are trying to combat it?

I saw a sleep specialist and I have moderate sleep apnea and I was told that between 1am and 4am is when you are most likely to have apnea's and disturbed sleep. I'm trying a machine at the moment which takes a little getting used to and I still have broken nights but I'm not as tired during the day.
