Drinking dream

I have had several consecutive drinking dreams as of late. I have been in recovery for a year and sober about three months continuously....is this normal still? The anxiety upon waking is immense, but soon subsides to relief once I recognise I am still sober!

Yes it is normal. I am over 5 months and I still have them. Sometimes I dream about it for a few days, skip a week, then dream about it again.

I am constantly thinking about not drinking so I don't think it is surprising that we dream of it. We can't help what we dream.

I know the feeling, I've waken up in a panic too!

The best description of dreams is something I found here at SR. It's the PROACTIVE PROGRAM.

The important thing about dreams is not what happens in the dream, but how you feel about it. Your brain is processing emotions, and somewhat randomly picks events to do that (that's why events in dreams don't always make sense).

So how did you feel about drinking in your dream?
