Unhappy I knew this would hit me really hard...

Put my old beagirl to sleep last Friday and since then I've just been wandering around the house like a zombie and crying like a baby. It seems so unreal that the little dog I've had for thirteen years is suddenly gone. My heart aches and I feel like I've been kicked in the gut. I can't understand how the world can keep spinning when Riley's dead.

I knew this day would come but now that it's here I can't handle it at all. I haven't been so depressed in a long time. I don't know how I can live with this horrible pain and emptiness. She's gone but I can't let go of her. It's grossly unfair that dogs' lives are so short. I feel so empty without her.

I understand how you are feeling. Unfortunately, it's going to take time. It's only been a couple of days, but it will get better, hon. Go ahead and cry and let the feelings come. Go through them and it just takes however long it takes. Feel your feelings, least. It's going to be okay.

I'm so sorry you're hurting. And it does seem unfair that our animals can't live as long I hope you get through this as best you can... I know it must be hard. Hang in there

Least,

I've prayed so much for you this weekend and for your peace. I thought last night, maybe God brought Dora in to your life because He saw that Riley was tired and ready to go home after living a wonderful life. He saw that Dora had not been treated well in life so far, and knew you would be the only one who could make her life here on earth whole. He saw how much you loved Riley and knew that Dora deserved that too! There are so many animals that are not loved by their owners, but your dogs know what is like to be truly cherished. Hug your babies and let your good memories comfort you, and know that you are such a blessing to your animals. You'll be in my prayers.

Least,

Coco said it all. Your dogs know what it is to be truly cherished.

My heart hurts for you.
When we love deeply, we grieve as deeply. I held my Tember's essence closely to me, and it comforted me to talk to her in those terrible hours and days, and weeks, after she left me for that beautiful bridge.

You were entrusted with her care, and you went far beyond just taking care of her. She was and still is, your girl.

I am sorry that she is not there to comfort you, as those puppies do so well, but in spirit , she is there. let her essence comfort you. imagine your arms around her neck, and maybe you will feel her close. that helped me.

big hug,
chicory

(((Least))) - I agree with ((Coco)), though I know the pain is still there from the grief. When I had to have my very first cat put down, I cried for weeks..driving past the vet's office, when I threw out his scratching post, heck, I am still tearing up and it's been years.

I do believe in the Rainbow Bridge, though, and we will see our furbabies again.

Grief takes time and the only way through it is...well, through it. Know that you and your furbabies are loved and many prayers are coming your way.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

gee, sorry 4 your sadness.
i think it's about how pets r really the only dependable friend we ever have.
i mean because they can't say anything stupid to us or critical, we really feel like they forgive us 4 being ourselves, like nobody else does.
but remember how God gave u the pet for awhile only, so that you'd crave that unconditional love....
& now you can get it from Him--God, that is. i know an invisible God is harder 2 connect with than a tangible body,
but it's more wonderful than anything to draw close 2 God's Love.
please fill ur empty spot w God's True Love 4 u.
blessings from nystate.

Oh least I'm so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel. I was 30 days sober and 100 days sober in my first year of recovery when I loss my 2 older cats. But i know their not suffering anymore and I truly believe I will see them again someday. Hang in there it will get better. You just have to go through the natural grieving process.

I had her cremated and picked up her remains today. I have fur clippings and a paw print and a little jar of what's left of her little body. It brings me some closure but a lot of sadness, knowing she's really gone for good...

THirteen years with her just isn't long enough...

I'm so sorry for your loss. I look at my little dog and cross my fingers. She's a blue heeler and I'm her only ewe so she has seen me through good days and bad. Last week when I went through a terrible, terrible day she watched me wondering how to help.

They are wonderful parts of our lives and it is terrible to lose a loved animal. I hope you are finding your way through.

I lost my little diabetic dog on Veteran's day, the 11th of November. I still miss him and find myself reaching for his insulin in the fridge at feeding time... I miss his little voice and his little tricks and traits. It's been several weeks but am still mourning his loss.

A dog's only fault is that they don't live long enough...

Least: Have you gotten yourself a new dog after losing this one? I've lost four dogs now, all in the past 25 years. Let me and some of the other dog loving alcoholics know about this if you can. Maybe we can help. You need a dog right now. Perhaps that is at least one cause of your anxiety. The best cure, maybe the only cure, for losing a dog is another dog.
