Are your kid wearing your genes?
 

My youngest has never seen me high but he has my genes. He has the same feelings of not belonging and has found the "home" like feeling of getting high. We have tried talking, counciling, taking him to meetings, group councilings, family counciling, juvenile detention, court, probation, rewards and punishment. He has not reached that point of surrender, that moment of clarity and has not hit that chin, chest and pelvis scraping bottom that we have and it tears me up to watch him follow the same path that I took. I have talked to many of my friends, both in and out of recovery, and it has come to the point where he either chooses recovery or he needs to leave our home. Any experience with a similar case? This is very heavy in my head and on my heart.

Children can be molded, teens need be bent, adults need to be broken.

Thanks for the reply best, as I've always said by the time we get here we are so spiritually deprived that we are all seeking a "power greater than ourselves". What we find is a group of people, like ourselves, entrusted with the power of recovery representing HP. Aloha.
