today I am grateful for...

purple asters and armfuls of yellow goldenrod

fat milkweed pods heavy on their latex stems

a sky so clear you can see for a hundred miles

the spicy-sweet scent of balsam fir

a walk in the woods

clean water and a good roof over my head

the ability to see more clearly every day

---------------------

best to all.

today I am grateful for -

crunchy fresh apples with their sweet sticky juice

cold water

the changing palette of light in the sky

the vividness of life when you're engaged

fields of late summer flowers

the warmth and touch and scent of the person I love

the ease of conversation with my best friend

the fat shiny black-brown crickets you see this time of year in the NE

the mighty, mighty Hudson River - it's awesome to be out on that water in my kayak!

-----------------------

best to you, my friends,

Long time no write!

Today, I am thankful for -

my brain and its capacity to learn

good friends, camping, toasted marshmallows, laughter, and a big giant dog

crystal blue skies and water like sapphires

the scent of the woods in fall - sweet and spicy and clean

winding country roads

the brilliant sunny orange of pumpkins

the breathtaking beauty of nature in the American northeast

----------------------------------

best to all of you out there,

today, I am grateful for -

the utter clarity and heart-stopping blue of the autumn sky

early morning mist

the sharp tang of fall in the air

spider webs bejeweled with dew diamonds

hot coffee on a chilly morning

the purring of my little feline buddy

being given the wonderful opportunity to live another day

-------------------------------

take care, all

Today, I am grateful for -

God's forgiveness

the fact that I am learning to stand and fight in life - not run away, hide, avoid, or ignore

the love and support of friends and family

the fact that the dawn - rosy golden, misty and cool - came this morning despite my wickedly negative attitude yesterday

the autumn palette of color unfolding before my very eyes

bright butterfly wings in the late afternoon sun

-----------------------

best to all...
over and out,

((MNGirlyGirl))!!

Today I am grateful for -

still-green trees wearing leafy scarlet sleeves of Virginia creeper

the fiery beauty of the sugar maples... the crimson glory of the sumac... the yellows and shades of purple of the ash... the startling loveliness of poison ivy vines in scarlet and saffron... the bronze-y cast of the fields... oh, how I love the forests and the meadows of my country!

a cozy bed on a chilly night

the opportunity to study again - for the pleasure of learning and the gift of having the chance to do so

for my cat, all soft and pliable and purring and sweet

for wiggly, wiggly *happy* puppies!

for a burgeoning sense of self

for the crispness in the air and the scent of woodsmoke upon it

for apples and pumpkins and late corn on the cob and mums and colorful gourds and all the other bounty that represent the autumn to me

for my legs - I could walk anywhere with these things. I'm so glad for that!

------------------------------

best to all.

Today I am grateful for -

the wild, sweet perfume of the autumn woods

purple piles of clouds stacked like mountains on the horizon

sturdy rust-and-black wooley bear caterpillars, trundling across country roads

a feathery lavendar foam of asters against granite

grey-green thick-felted rosettes of mullein leaves

tiny coral-colored rose hips on wild roses

bouquets of wild grasses in shades of gold and green and plum

the capacity to see beauty everywhere

----------------------------

best to all,

Man, some days are hard. Still, though... so much beauty...

Today I am grateful for -

the heartstopping vividness of autumn foliage - like a lyrical, brilliant shout

the many languages of an accomplished mockingbird

the tiny snail, no larger than a freckle, that I found on a black walnut husk - itty bitty spiral shell and tiny eyestalks - so sweet

shafts of white-gold sunlight piercing the low-hanging morning fog

the comfort of having a true friend

my mom and dad

the candy-colored leaf confetti on the forest floor

good music

------------------------

be well.

Say it with me - some days are tough, but I'm tougher! Or something like that. Yes, I am a dork.

Today I am grateful for -

cold mist on my face

watching the wind in the treetops

how alive I feel when I am outside

the pretty blue berries of the red cedar

my cat and her purriness

the friendships I have that will always keep my head above water

the big-eared, wide-eyed half-grown fawn that has taken up residence in the orchard where I work

-------------------------

best to you...

It's been too long since I have written here. Today I am grateful for -

the amazing beauty of the sky - shades of pale blue right now, with slowly drifting clouds tinted peach and lavender and violet and mauve

the shreds of orange and yellow leaves still clinging to the trees like tattered ballgowns

the scarlet berries of possumhaw glowing through the empty branches

stalks of cattail in seed - banners of tawny fluff

most especially - my parents. the love I have for them has no depth

---------------------------

best to all of you,
anne

Today I am grateful for -

the SR community - you're all in my thoughts and prayers... I hope to meet some of you some day, perhaps next October

the crispness in the air and the clarity of the marvelous, expressive autumn sky

the seasons's last wild daisy I saw on a hillside today - ivory petals against a backdrop of russet fallen leaves

a crisp, cold late apple right off the tree

a hot mug of cinnamon tea to warm my fingers and my stomach

the family of crows up in the orchard - sooty black and ruffle-necked, watching me carefully from a nearby tree while I work

the beauty in this world so perfect it makes my heart ache sometimes

-------------------------------

best to all of you - and good weekends too. see you on monday.

Belatedly... thank you, Wiscgirl! It's been awhile since I've posted here. Predictably, I suppose, I am feeling cranky and ungrateful. I come here to remedy that... I have so much beauty in my life, I need to recognize and record it.

Today, I am grateful for -

twittering flocks of dark eyed juncos - charcoal above, bright white below - round little globes of feathers

tall, stately goldenrod, grey-bearded now with age

the faint pinks and subtle lavender tints in today's cloudy sky

the soft light and stillness outside - as if the world is holding its breath

a whiff of woodsmoke on the air

the delicate architecture of leafless birch and poplar

as always, family and friends

------------------------------------

best to you all,
anne
