Grateful that my HP loved me when I couldn't..
Hello!
I am new here, just found this site doing a web search and glad that I did.
I started my recovery in January 1997. I am addicted to just about everything that makes me feel really good or really sad or really mad. Important thing is that it changes the way that I feel. I began my road to recovery/sobriety through AA. I have attended both AA and NA. I am a relapser, have done so about 6 times.
My first try lasted almost a year. My second about 8 months. Third through fifth between 6 months and a year and a half. I have been clean and sober this time for a little over 2 years.
My relapses have usually been of very short duration. When they were extended I would drink/use for a day and then nothing for months. The "inbetween" time I never counted as being sober as I had no intention of remaining sober then.
I am grateful that the God of my understanding how kept me alive. I am fairly screwed up, but I did get a good sense of Step 3 and have remembered it for the most part. I think that is what has saved my rear often.
Glad to be here.
