Fearless, as usual I can relate to your post about work. I'm eligible to retire in about 5 years, which sometimes seems like an eternity, but will definitely allow me to retire at a fairly young age. My org also has a deferred retirement program which would allow me to work an additional 3 years and collect both my salary and a portion of my retirement - and everyone says it would be crazy financially not to do that. I go back and forth where some days I am ready to ditch this place and run away screaming, and others where I might be able to hang in there for longer.
Least, I'm so happy you slept through the night! That makes such a big difference.
Free, so happy you made it - enjoy the trip!
Turs, the decluttering for my parents is no joke - and now I have a HUGE decluttering/organizing project at my own house! My dad definitely appreciates the help and is not opposed at all to getting rid of stuff, which is such a big part of it. Now, if I can get my brother over there to help out - that would be amazing.
NL, that's definitely a tough but painful realization, about our role in enabling others.

Grateful for coffee.
Grateful for morning quiet - both of my kids are away, but honestly it feels TOO empty and quiet? I thought I would be one of those parents who was pretty excited about the empty nest, but not so much? I miss my boys. Grateful I talked to my son at college last night.
Grateful to be of service to my parents yesterday. Grateful to realize that I don't have to dive right into the nostalgia of old photos all at once.
Grateful my husband went to the office today, it's a telework day, and will just be me and my girls (dogs).
Grateful for bagged salads, some are honestly so good.
Grateful for sunny weather.
Grateful to be sober.

Thanks for the new thread Dee.
Good to see you as always Mags.
PS sounds like you are methodically cleaning out your parents home. That is good. It is so hard. We had to do my mom's house in one week. There were so many things that I regret not going through more. I had to leave some of it to my siblings that live down there. But I am afraid a lot of books got tossed. Apparently they are hard to get rid of. So sad!
((NL))thinking of you and the hard times you are having.
Alpine what a beautiful bear pic. Glad you were at a distance.
CP I was an athlete growing up and exercise is a big part of my life. I need it for my mental sanity as much as anything.
Hev I agree on the news. I can hardly watch it anymore.
Fearless I am older than you I think but I may not retire until I am 65 as well because of health insurance.
Turs I hope you enjoyed babysitting.
Free I am glad you made the cut. Hope the cruise is great.
Zura hearing you mention winter sounds good right now. We have been sweltering.
least I am so glad you have gotten some relief and are able to sleep.
Jack I missed a day too. Welcome back.

Must get to work. But a few grats.

Grateful my husband and I got some yard work done in the rain yesterday. We put up lattice work and trained some Confederate Jasmine onto it. Hoping it creates a privacy screen.
Grateful for my sobriety.
Grateful Djokovic won Wimbledon and I got a lot of cooking done while watching. I made Paleo chocolate Chip Cookies, Chicken salad and chicken broth.
Grateful for telework today.
Grateful for all of you.

Fearless, I think that you are 'spot on' about retirement. As long as it is fulfilling, and you have a good work/life balance, why would you quit? 19 months out from my retirement, I'm learning that my discontentment was more about me and less about the job. Until I dealt with the root cause of my discontent, I just replaced one stressor with another. Still a work in progress.
NL, my heart goes out to you during this most difficult part of the process.

Grateful for a good night's sleep.
Grateful that my exercise and healthy eating regimen is starting to pay off. Amazing how much longer it takes to feel the payoff at age 57.
Grateful for having SR as an anchor for my recovery.

NL, so glad you saw eagles. Will be thinking of you this week -- that's a big hurdle to be sure.
Palmer - photos are definitely where I hit a snag in going through my folks' stuff. Some of those got boxed up for dealing with later.
CBS -- the cooking sounds awesome, I wanna eat at your house.
Least, so glad you got some sleep.

Grateful I washed all my windows, inside and out, yesterday. It had been several years since I tackled it. My mom would be proud, she loved clean windows.
Grateful for a really fun stroller walk with my grandson yesterday. I started sharing the names of plants and flowers, and taught him some of the herbs growing in the neighborhood. He really got into it and wanted to stop and smell, touch, and learn the name of every plant we passed. It's so fun that he's learning language now.

Numblady - I'm thinking of you too - it will be a much-dreaded burden lifted. .
Free - Have yourself a wonderful time! Sounds lovely.
Zura - I'd be more than happy to ship you some of our Heat & Humidity.
Jack - Hot in London again? I'm glad you like it.
Grateful for the sun.
Grateful I've been sleeping better for some reason.
Grateful watching less news seems to have led to less anxiety.
Grateful MrH isn't moody or unpredictable - I couldn't handle it.
Love to ALL.

Turs, I found that newspaper print is excellent for clean windows. Good views help increase my mental health.

im young to be retired at 59, and I’m busier than ever. I see some infirm persons on this cruise, and I’m so glad we are able at our age. Some genetics, some intake choices, and some choices about activity and flexibility all come into play. No doubt choices about sobriety take a GIANT role.

Not sure whether to take partial payments at 62 or wait until 67. I’ve got time to think.

Hev I'll accept some heat but the humidity will be labelled return to sender 😝

This morning I am grateful that whilst lots of problems have been cropping up, they've been seemingly resolved easily.

Morning all

Alpine - that bear photo - just WOW
CBS - love the smell of Jasmine,,,,,
Tursiops - great reading about you introducing your grandson to the natural world. Beautiful moments he'll probably remember later in life
Hevyn - yep, it is HOT here. Supposed to be 34 at the weekend, which for the UK is unusual to say the least. Also, I'm with you on the less news thing. I think it's vital for mental health to limit it. We're not built as humans to be exposed to that much information, especially all the really negative stuff

Today I'm grateful for my spiritual practice
Grateful to have friends
Grateful to have food in the fridge
Grateful for a much quieter week this week
Grateful for another day

Hello Grat Packers. I am popping in real quick. Have to hop to the office today.

Grateful for a decent night's sleep.
Grateful for my life.
Grateful for AC and all the simple comforts.
Grateful to be financially comfortable after so many years of struggling a bit to make ends meet. We have inheritances to thank for that. Maybe that is TMI. But a bookkeeper and a woodworker don't make a lot of money. So I feel lucky that our parents left us money.
Grateful for SR and all of you.

Turs - I loved your description of your time with your grandson. Just taking the time to interact with him and enjoy his discovering and learning. I'm so much more patient as a grandparent than I ever was as a parent. Seems like we were always rushing from one thing to the next. Chasing what, and to what end? I guess that's the way life works. Wisdom with age.

Grateful for my children, and the diverging routes their lives have taken.
Grateful for the extra large basket of strawberries that I found on sale at the grocery store.
Grateful for my Zoom meeting last night and the heartfelt shares from the attendees. Hearing about lives reclaimed will never get old.
Grateful for the friends that I have met here. You all keep me moving in the right direction and I thank you.

Free, awesome! Have fun!
Least, so glad for your uninterrupted sleep
Good to see you,Jack
NL, bald eagles are so beufitul! Saw some in AK. Thinking about you today as you go through this difficult process
On retirement, I think it is very different t for everyone and depends on so many factors and personal preferences. So grateful for freedom to choose. Grateful to be true to myself as well
Mr F opted to take his social security early rather than wait for the larger amount. In his case, the investment earnings letting his 401k sit for another 10 years outweighs the social security increase. Then again, depends on how the market does 🤩
Grateful t9be taking a break, meditation and nap under the gazebo. Then back to work for quick meeting then I’m done for the day
