Happy Birthday Daisy dear! So happy to be your friend.

This morning I woke up sober again and the first thing I saw was Billie's sweet face next to me. That always starts my day off on a happy note.

I fear Kafka might be over my head but I'll give him a shot. He died so young at only 40.
Mags - Glad those pesky injections are done.
Daisy - Happy Birthday to our lovely friend! Hope it's been a wonderful one so far.
Numb - Trying to listen for what is right - oh, that's a tricky one.
Grateful to be sober to cope with all the stuff going on.
Grateful for optimism & hope.
Grateful for the possiblity of a trip to Maine again - I think they're allowing us in. Not sure if it would be fun though - would we worry the whole time?
Grateful for this lovely group.

Happy Birthday dear Daisy!!
Mags, I'm grateful too that your injections are done and sure hope you are feeling better.
Grateful for NL's thoughtful post.
Grateful to be determined to make an appt with a different ortho doctor today. I really need a second opinion. I tend to procrastinate certain things and I have to do this. Grateful the new doctor I want to see comes highly recommended from my favorite doctor and my mom saw him too.
I hope NC is ok. Haven't seen her for a bit.
Grateful for all of you and your posts. I look forward to the Grat Pack every day.
Love and peace to all.

Running very, very late here but better late than never....

Grateful to wake up sober on my birthday.
Grateful to share my birthday with Sunpengwn, I hope you had a lovely day.
Grateful for a thoughtful gift of a huge stash of my favourite chocolate and a beautiful card from my lovely friend Mags.
Grateful for a new all singing/all dancing phone from Mr D.B, I've been very spoilt. I better make sure I don't drop this one.
Grateful for all the kind birthday wishes I've received.
Grateful for the friends I've found on S.R, you're all so very precious to me.
Grateful to be here with you all. xxx

Grateful for Numblady’s account of German culture.
Grateful Daisy had a great birthday and a new phone! Woohoo
Grateful Aly isn’t procrastinating and going to see another doctor for another opinion. (I tend to let the grass grow too!) x

Grateful for all of you, I share your joy, your tears and your humanity.

Grateful it’s a Saturday morning without hangovers. YaaaaY.

Grateful to be able to hang out with my brother today instead of spending the day in bed dying.

Grateful Owen is here. Welcome!
Daisy Happy Birthday to you too!! Knew it was Sun’s but overlooked yours.
Grateful yesterday got better. After the sun came up we realized about half of our dying ash tree had fallen down in the night. It was pushing on my precious little baby Texas Red Oak in ... what I’m not sure is irony or just could have been something that really sucked. Thankfully the little tree is okay. It started out as a couple of feet high and now it is taller than I am. I want it to grow up and provide shade for the house as the older tree dies off.. Then my daughter’s shower water started draining into the kitchen. So that was pretty awesome. We still don’t know what caused it but we’ll have to just not use it for a while until we can get it fixed. Sigh. But grateful none of it was worse and that my active husband pulled down all the limbs and got them off the front lawn then filed a home warranty claim on the plumbing.
Grateful to be going back up to AR to get our van. Sure hoping this trip goes better.
Grateful my daughter has started a tradition of wanting to have me pick a book from a stack she pre-selects then read it to me every night. Gosh I miss reading to them at bedtime. It definitely got old but I sure miss doing it. It inspired me to bring along on our trip a book that was recommended on Pinterest as a read-aloud. I had such high aspirations at the beginning of this whole Covid thing, including my children reverently listening to me read engaging and wholesome books like on Pinterest.
Grateful to try and show myself grace that my life looks nothing like my Pinterest aspirations.
Grateful for Texas sage. I’m sure I’ve said this before but makes me so happy how it blooms after a rain. I don’t even have one anymore. I just like thinking about it and smelling the blooms if I happen to walk by one.
Grateful the sky opened up and it really rained yesterday.
Grateful for this group. Will be a bit spotty in my participation in next several days but will try to get back here.

Oh and Hev, I definitely don’t love Kafka that much as an author. More as a thinker, I guess. And in that regard I would say definitely the writings are relatable. I feel quite sure it is not over your head. There is something relatable for modern humans period, I think. Also thanks for pointing out NC has been out of action for a while. Will see if I can DM her.

Grateful for coffee (really good this morning).
Grateful that we will see our dear friends tonight.
Grateful that I'm trying to recognize and stop my perfectionist tendencies in the early stages.
Grateful to catch up with a former boss over Zoom yesterday (and grateful her cancer treatment worked so well!)
Grateful for a slow, rainy morning.
Grateful that I bathed my dogs yesterday, and won't have to do it again for a while!
Grateful to be recognizing some unproductive patterns in my behavior, and have the chance to change them.
Grateful to be sober, and to be more of a "student of recovery" again lately.

Aly - Good decision to get a 2nd opinion - I hope it gives you peace of mind.
Owen - Great to see you here. Yes, no laying in bed dying for us.
Grateful to be going to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology today - unfortunately, the visitor's center is closed - but we can walk the trails.
Grateful for cheerful people with a sense of humor - some are devoid of one.
Grateful for all the posts - always something to laugh about or learn.
Grateful that most of us have been resilient during this incredible time - determined to carry on as best we can.
Grateful for no responsibilities today.

Congratulations copperfield! And welcome to the Grat Pack!

Hevyn, enjoy the trails. I wish I were there.

Rusty, I'm so glad you're getting stronger

Grateful to wake up with an appetite (instead of the dry heaves).
