Deserto - Wherefore art thou?
Missing Aly too.
Grateful for a lovely day here - sun, a breeze, no humidity
Grateful for an early morning walk along the lake - an impossibility once upon a time.
Grateful for the very friendly people & dogs I met on said walk.
Grateful to talk myself out of being irritated with people. I'm sure I'm annoying too, at times.
Grateful for those who were willing to sacrifice their lives for us.
Grateful to be sober, and truly living, not just phoning it in.
Grateful for it all - even the bumpy parts.

Grateful to be back and reading all the posts I missed.
And speaking of missing, I miss Aly too! Hope she is ok out there.
Miss Deserto too though I know he goes longer stretches between posts.
Grateful Least helped me feel in good company about being slow to learn certain things like how to check ink levels.
Grateful RZ was able to eat some though sounds like may be rough again. Hugs.
Grateful it sounds like Fearless and i both sent our sons on bike rides with a friend yesterday.
Grateful to be back with our creature comforts.
Grateful for a sky full of stars the first night of camping.
Grateful that our tent held and we were okay through a thunderstorm the second night. TBH I was kind of scared too. Mainly because I don’t really know what I’m doing and have no clue how to best position guylines. Our whole tent kind of heaved and hoed with each wind gust (both nights) so not sure I actually set it up correctly.
Grateful the rain fly really did its job. It’s incredible to me that we could stay in a piece of nylon and stay dry (once we zipped up the windows).
Grateful that even though I don’t know what I’m doing, I’m trying.
Grateful my son and husband came out for the day the second day, along with a friend and her two kids for a socially distanced play date along the river. It was healing for all of us to have an outdoor semi normal interaction.
Grateful I was sober through all of it. The first day we got there it was so hot (I remembered that when I nabbed the reservations months ago I got the only spots remaining—and I think it’s because they were unshaded) we couldn’t get the tent set up at first and it was so hot. My daughter had the good idea to just go swimming, which we did, and it was so wholesome and nice. She got to swing on a rope swing and was just beside herself with joy over it. But then we had to drive out of the park to get cell service and long story kind of short, it took us so long to get everything set up, we didn’t eat until 10! Trying to finally get to bed, I was so tired and dysfunctional. I definitely thought about how insane all of the activity would have been if I’d been slugging back wine the whole time. Eww.
Grateful my parents and grandparents brought me up camping. I didn’t retain any of the practical skills or info or any ability to sleep in a tent, but i do have a repository of happy memories staying around the pond my grandparents had access to or around the lake with my parents’ friends in AR. The quiet of a night at a campsite, broken by talking and laughter or footsteps along gravel. There is something so magical about it.
Grateful I am still using my grandparents’ picnic basket to take on outings like this, down to the silverware in an old school Pringles can that is heavily reinforced (they just made them that way I think). I love them so much. I hate that the virus keeps us from seeing them but this morning I had the idea I am going to send them an ipad that is already set up later this summer so we can do Zoom or other means of connecting.
Grateful FBL’s mother tested negative.
Grateful I’m not filthy anymore (we avoided showering in the communal bathrooms to minimize germ exposure).
Grateful for a sunburn even though it’s irresponsible. Feels like a reminder of the good times.
Grateful there was no cell service because of course a work crisis happened the day/moment we got there.
Grateful to feel physically exhausted but emotionally rested.
Grateful for NC’s wise words about alcohol.
Grateful for the amazing beauty of the place we visited. Google Pedernales Falls if you want to see. The massive formation that is the actual falls is a powerful reminder of how small we are. Grateful that my daughter and i got to visit it. She went into a Tik Tok dance and the only other person on the rocks who was there studying and writing yelled “Brava!!” It was a very sweet moment, against the backdrop of the majestic falls.
Grateful this forum doesn’t have a word limit.
Grateful for all of you.
Grateful fo all those who served. Grateful to all those who sacrificed.

Grateful for (strong, bitter) coffee!
Grateful that I made some headway in organizing my kids' rooms and washing ALL their bedding yesterday.
Grateful that I stood up for myself.
Grateful that I am trying to view my painfully slow weight loss as an interesting challenge to solve.
Grateful to be sober, and for all the people here on SR!

Numblady - I loved the description of your adventure - googled the falls - watched a nice video on texashillcountry.com.
Daisy - I was up with the birds too - it never gets old to be clear headed & appreciative of our surroundings.
FBL - Grateful mom is negative. What a relief.
Grateful for central air conditioning - we didn't have it at the house we lived in previously. Last night was so muggy.
Grateful for a glorious Memorial Day - and for all those who laid down their lives for us to continue with ours. May we be worthy of their sacrifice.
Grateful that SR never takes a holiday - so people from all over can find encouragement & empathy at any time.
Grateful for my freedom and the sobriety to truly enjoy it.
