Daisy, I have some resentments too, though not specifically with my son. I actually have some with my husband for various things in the past, often involving our son. It’s complicated but things have improved a lot. I was not in AA but I do try to follow the twelve steps. I often think how difficult it would be to have a grown child with ongoing problems that never seem to go away and to not have any control as a parent. Serenity prayer and sick man prayer come to mind. I am so grateful for your strength and for everything you do for your g. children too.
Least and Aly, your Billie and Luke sound so great. Someday I would love to have a dog. I do love my cats (cogs )
Astro, that is certainly something to be grateful for to be able to look up recipes right on our phones

Grateful for a good relaxing g day
Grateful to watch Mrs. DoubtFire with family (for about the 10th time)
Grateful for a clean house
Grateful for Tara Brach meditations. I listened to one today called In the realm of hungry ghosts - about attachment and addiction. Recovery really is about the spirit.
Grateful to be going to bed sober

I love Mrs Doubtfire!! One of my favorite Robin Williams movies, along with Good Will Hunting.

Tonight I'm grateful that we had a person like Fred Rogers in our lives.

I remember my kids watching him.

Thank you Aly, I've been trying to get in bed earlier and do feel a little more rested.

Grateful that I have a couple weekend trips coming up, I could use a little time away where it's cooler. Grateful for a nice weekend with my wife.

Grateful for nature and being able to hike in it
Grateful for healthy old growth forests
Grateful for more often feeling repulsed by the thought of alcohol in my body than tempted
(sleeping next to a mini-bar tonight, those are still slightly anxiety provoking, but the bed is awesome and so is my bottle of water)

Fearless I can totally understand your resentments with your husband, I have some with mine over my son and my g.son, different reasons to yours of course, but resentments all the same, some exacerbated because my husband isn't my sons father. Yes, the serenity prayer and the sick man prayer certainly have their uses, I use them a lot.

Grateful for another sober evening with no desire to drink alcohol.
Grateful the rain held off until tonight even though it is now lashing it down.
Grateful the other grandmother did the school pick up this afternoon and dropped my live in g.son to me, she is so kind.
Grateful for a phone call from my mum.
Grateful g.son knew what he was doing with his math homework because math and I do not get along.
Grateful to buy some acrylic paint cheap to use for a base on my pebbles for painting.
Grateful for a hot, scented bath
Grateful to have made packed lunches and laid clothes out for tomorrow.
Grateful Aly's ARF is building a new section for Vets and Pets for war veterans, that is so good.
Grateful to see Lucinda has joined us. Welcome.xx

Grateful for Fearless's kind words. ( P.S I love Mrs Doubtfire too).
Grateful Johnnyt53 has joined us too.

Least, I forgot Robin Williams was in Good Will Hunting. Love that movie too.
I have a Mr Rogers book with some of his sayings on my coffee table. I also have a similar Bob Ross book. Happy Little Trees 🌲😊.
Grateful Auster brought up nature. I never want to take it for granted
Grateful for Aly’s new friend
Hi Johnny
Daisy, I have two of the same things on my list. I also bought some paint for my rock/pebble painting and finished a couple today. Grateful for a hot bath
Grateful for Fall weather. I always get sad at the end of Summer but when Fall is really here, I love it. Walks with big sweatshirts, crunching on leaves, Halloween and holidays to look forward to. Good running weather
Grateful sonny boy is being responsible about his homework. Nice to not have to micromanage
Grateful for each of you and for your compassion and understanding

Pondy, I could never forget you.

Tonight I'm grateful that Billie finally dropped a dog bomb on our walk just now. (I always clean up after her)

Fearless, Robin Williams won an Oscar for best supporting actor for Good Will Hunting. I have that movie and love it. Robin's portrayal of the therapist was just perfect. sigh...

Grateful for my friends here. I feel such a kinship with all of you. Friends are the family you choose.

Pondlady, I took some time off a long time ago and I remembered you were one of my friends. I've been back and sober ever since. I'm so sorry if I didn't verbalize that I missed you, but I always miss someone who doesn't make it for some reason. Pondy, I do think of you and you probably don't even remember me from back in my super newbie days!! But, I do remember you. You add love and a kind of stability. I hope you'll keep coming. All my love, Aly ♥♥♥
