Numblady - I like the no screens idea. Let us know how it works out.
Grateful for the day I discovered drinking doesn't make me braver, wiser, or more fun. Just the opposite, in fact. (Wish it hadn't taken me so long.)
Grateful for bright sun, singing birds, the appearance of some green stuff.
Grateful that SR isn't a humorless, grim kind of place. I thought I was in for a lot of lecturing when I first joined.
Grateful to accept all I've been through, realizing it brought me to my place of contentment & hopefulness.
Grateful for whoever is reading these words - you matter in this world.

Numblady 'no screens' sounds like bliss to me.

Hevyn, I wish that too but better late than never. xx

Grateful to be up early, sober and guilt free and not dry heaving when I walk past a certain cupboard.
Grateful the sun is shining out there.
Grateful my g.son is still sleeping, though I'll have to wake him in a minute.
Grateful for a good nights sleep myself.
Grateful for my little cat and the pleasure she gives me.
Grateful to be able to help my daughter this morning.
Grateful to be here with you all.
Grateful to start the day reading your very helpful posts. xx

Thanks for all the support for screen free week! I’m obviously not really doing the challenge but I am going to stay off FB to greatest extent possible and I’m just staying off my phones other than to check for urgent work stuff, especially when they are awake. I was actually coaching my daughter through one day at a time thought process yesterday. . I’ve also finally started reading a book about screen addiction in children (and presumably relevant to adults too). Yikes! Almost scared to educate myself...

And speaking of, just as I sort of avoid learning about screen addiction and sugar addiction, I’m grateful that I’ve at least been willing to remove my blinders about alcohol and I no longer have to scour the Internet clinging to articles that supposedly validate health benefits. As far as I can tell they validate the health benefits of...grapes and fruit. Not exactly breaking news.
Grateful for the rituals of my cats. How they stay downstairs until close enough in the night to my waking and then they wait for me in the bathroom.
Grateful I finally checked a couple of things off the to-do list yesterday that had been on there a long time!
Grateful to be up early to work out.
Grateful for cold brew coffee.
Grateful for tailors and anyone who knows how to sew.
Grateful for the kindness and non-lecturing support this group offers.

Numblady - The sugar thing - I'm just beginning to realize it's negative impact. Actually had withdrawals after Easter candy was gone.
Grateful - For no longer hiding my head in the sand.
Grateful to know you'll all be here when I arrive.

Grateful for an early morning doing not much before work. Wouldn't be possible without sobriety!

Grateful to finally check in to SR and read your posts!
Screen free week. Love it. It needs to be an international holiday!
Also, Numblady, Thanks for the idea of teaching one day at a time to the kids. Going to try it with my son. He gets himself all worked up about the future and it causes a lot of anxiety, possibly even self sabotage. Come to think of it, I do it too!
Grateful for the reminder this gives me about Russell Brands book in which he talks about the twelve steps working for everyone, not just those recovering from addiction. Emotional sobriety is basically the same as emotional intelligence so as I work on myself, I’ll work on teaching my son the same concepts.
Grateful the morning was a lot better than I expected, to be reminded that anticipation is usually worse than reality, and worrying never does any good
Grateful that in this moment right exactly now, life feels good and peaceful

Fearless, thank you for mentioning the Russell Brand book. I like to always have at least one recovery memoir I’m reading so that’s going to be next. Also I was really glad to hear about your conversation with the other moms and even finding a non-drinker. I think there are a couple sober moms in my daugther’s friend set but I cant quite get it to come up in conversation. Largely because we haven’t really had any that don’t involve coordinating play dates etc.
Hev, grateful your head is out of the sand. I think I’m keeping mine in there as far as sugar goes. At least for the foreseeable future.
Grateful to be doing modified screen free week. I am allowing myself to post on Grat Pack and to check emails but anything more akin to scrolling through and just idly gawking/reading I will skip.
Grateful getting out of our patterns (not just the screens-free part but also soccer practice got canceled and I didn’t have to be at the capitol like I thought) allowed us to do things we’d never done before. Check out a new gaming store (card and board role player type stuff, not video); eat at a revolving sushi restaurant (so cool!), go to a Vietnamese bakery, and then even hit Target to get a couple of things.
Grateful we’ve got season tickets to a water park and an amusement park that I hope we get to use quite a bit this summer.
Grateful to introduce my son to brioche, one of the great breads of history
Grateful for another day to do better, be better.
Grateful for being able to come here.

Grateful for the opportunity to participate here in this forum with, as RZ calls us, the "grat pack."
Grateful my daughter made it to CA safely; praying all goes well.
Grateful that as I have the feeling that my son may be taking things too far, I will choose what is best...that is, to stay on my side of the fence and zip my lips.
