Grateful for staying for the whole game. Mets come from behind, go ahead in the 8th, & win going away. Best game I’ve ever been to. Grateful for the 7 train running express on the way home. Grateful to my parents, two huge baseball fans, for my love of the game.

Grateful to have passed the hugely difficult part of early recovery. 9 months 28 days. Not to take lightly the daily vigilance which I feel equipped to handle from what I’ve learned here. Daily exercise is key for me but as D has said it is only part of the recovery plan. For me a very large part but thanks for the perspective. Thankful for O for setting me up here & the support @ critical times. It’s amazing how it comes through here. Thankful for the SR members & this site.

Grateful to have not despaired after a knee injury 3 weeks ago derailed my daily run & playing league tennis @ 100%. This was a real chance to put into action adjusting to a downturn & altering the plan. So I didn’t feel sorry for myself, stayed positive, allowed the injury to calm down, did what I could do in the gym, saw the doctor & calmed down the swelling, feeling better. Never once thought of escaping to drink. This is reinforcing. So grateful for that.

Grateful for the energy sobriety has given me. When drinking, depression, with the corresponding low energy, could be a real problem. Been able to deal with this & hope it is the sobriety that’s the difference.

Grateful to be playing competitive adult league tennis sober. After the matches there’s beer & I can honestly say I don’t want one. And when I win or lose I can respect myself that I don’t need that alcohol crutch.

Grateful for positive thinking. My sick cat is struggling but focusing on what he’s getting out of these extra months of life, Yes, he’s confused & stumbling around, taking daily IV fluids & prednisone, but he’s eating & social with us. Grateful for my wife who’s able to do the treatments.

Grateful to have seen my tennis friend for the first time in 2+ years. We played a league match against each other. He was on one of the teams I captained & we got into a childish tiff a couple of years ago which festered. We hadn’t spoken since. Heard he had a heart attack last year & it was great to see him. He won the match but I told him I was grateful to have seen him & we hugged.
