Gratitude Journal

Hello. My name is jojo and I am an addict. I have been clean off pills for 23 days today. I am still depressed and struggling through my days. My sponsor asked me to work on gratitude to help me shift my focus from "poor me, poor me, pour me a drink..." ( I love that! ) to being in the solution. So, I thought I'd start an online gratitude journal that I will contribute to every day. Who knows, maybe I'll even start to FEEL grateful soon... that's the hope anyway.

jojo

P.S. All of my friends on SR are welcome to stop by and say hello.

Day 23

Today I am grateful for:

snails (here in the Pacific NW we call them slugs!)
puppydog tails
god
being clean and sober
and
for the hope I know is coming

Wishing us all another sober 24. Love and Light,

jojo

Dear JoJo:

I am also on Day 23. Isn't it good to know we have been exercising control over ourselves? I am grateful for this control, for being strong enough during the weak times to say "no" to my DOC. I am grateful to have been good over the Halloween weekend and know that the Thanksgiving holiday is coming up and I WILL be in control. JoJo, won't we be thankful for a lot more by that time? Sometimes when I am driving to work I will make myself specify what I am grateful for at that moment. Sometimes when I lay in my big, clean comfortable bed, I recite what I am grateful for at that time. I agree with you; verbalizing what we are thankful for in our lives is a big help.

Oh, NeverSurrender! He is BEAUTIFUL. Be sure to tell him I said that and give him an extra hug and kiss. My two boys are 15 lb. pieces of dryer lint and I love them with all my heart. My oldest is my soul companion. He has literally saved my life. There have been times when he was the only thing I lived for. My youngest is 8 months and all he wants to do is play, play, play, play, PLAY. Everything goes in the mouth! Thanks for sharing. From one dog lover to another!
