  • Grateful for three years without a drink - that was yesterday - and I forgot to celebrate the milestone.

Grateful my mom and I made plans for her birthday. Grateful she'll be 81 y/o and she's doing quite well after a stroke and a hip replacement. She actually still looks pretty. Grateful that I'm in a position to be with her now and help her; she really shouldn't be alone for long periods. Grateful Luke, our black German Shepherd watches over her too, esp. if she walks him.

Grateful that I have gone to every AA meeting available to me in the last 24 hours (3).
Grateful that I like them and feel welcomed by them and that I'm not alone.
Grateful that I saw an old friend at the noon meeting and she got her 11 month chip and it inspired me.
Grateful that I saw another acquaintance whom I've known around town at the bars and he has 4 years and we had a great conversation after this evening's meetings about the pros and cons of AA in a very small town, and that put me at ease.
(Am I doing something wrong here by sharing others' stories like this?)
Grateful that I am excited to go to the noon meeting tomorrow. I hope I wake up with the same resolve.
Grateful that when I was despairing yesterday and was too drunk to drive that rather than not going to the meeting I rode my bike through the woods and went by myself anyway.
Grateful to be starting again.

Grateful that you both have reminded of progress in recovery, the tools we have available work if we use them.
