I am grateful for ...
Yesterday when I posted on SoberRecovery for the first time.
It was a very difficult step for me to take. For one thing, it was putting my drinking problem in writing, and for another thing, I'm not one to open myself up to strangers online. Despite our best intentions and ground rules, etc. etc, people aren't always understanding, aren't always kind.
What I did was ask whether others had had some of the same experiences I was having, early recovery. Almost immediately some very caring and thoughtful people confirmed that they indeed had the same experiences and just as important, reminded me of the significance of what I had achieved so far, even if I'm not very far along.
So. I'm grateful for that, and for posting on another sober day. I'm grateful for the walk I took this morning with a (relatively) clear head and eyes. I'm grateful that I feel like I can come back here. And I will. Thank you.
