This forum, along with AA & NA has helped me organize my thinking and attitudes in a positive manner.
As for AA I see it as something of a mixed blessing, by virtue of the artificial differentiation between normal/heavy drinking and and alcoholism as a disease.
I would suggest that some 'normal drinkers' may be in more dangers than a few perceived alcoholics. In some ways the disease concept, working by fear, as it does, may lock people into their condition, while not adequately addressing other problems.
That said, I think AA has a lot going for, but is not a panacea, a fact Bill W seems to have realised.
Still I am grateful for the lessons I was able to personally apply.
