Life Ain't The Pits

Welp, Grande Gratitude this morning...

Two 20-somethings brought their 2 amicable Dogs into the Dog Park yesterday. One - clearly a Pit Bull - was friendly until he got within 3' of my Goldie. Then, 'Instinct' kicked in, and only the lucky grip of this slender Gal on his Leash kept their Dog from ripping mine apart. Scary stuff, how fast it all went down in seconds. Today, I will take precautions against this ever going down that way again. Whew! Ya read about these situations in the Newspaper, but it's entirely different to see it in person. I know the entire Breed is not like this. I suspect this was a Rescue Dog. They were innocently, and responsibly, trying to Socialize it.

SOOOOO, the Sunrise today below is especially sweet. I live. Sober. Our Dog lives.

MesaMan, just a few weeks ago I watched helplessly as my oldest Beagle barreled into a group of kids playing, barking her head off, circling their feet, threatening them. It's just a Beagle, sure. But the fear was way up there. As we'd never seen her do this before and had no idea what to expect. It was completely unexpected and quite terrifying.

I am grateful for what other people have to say here. They come from all backgrounds and so many paths: through hardships, therapies, rehabs and what have you and they bring their insights and their knowledge here so that I and many more can see our ways forward from so many different perspectives -- things we would have never realized without their inputs. Sometimes and so often they have just the right things to say that can break open the logjams that muck up my thinking and cause me to lose my way. I find myself reflecting on these gems so very often and can see, from these varied jewels of wisdom how to move those barriers that used to leave me trapped and desperate, and with just a few words, that I then repeat and make my own, I can then find my way. Thank you all, thank you all, thank you all.

Sure, those pits are just misunderstood and all, until they just go for it. I tried to rescue one from the local pound who clearly thought I was great and was just the sweetest thing as we tried to introduce it to my other dog and everything was fine until it got close enough to sniff and then it was all instant teeth and rage. Again, a pull of the leash saved my civilized dog. Unsettling. Glad everything worked out, Messa and Jennie.

Grateful for 28 years and 10 months of living sober from our illness/alcoholism today.

My friend Jim age 83 died sober yesterday of heart failure.

I am grateful for the 20 years of recovery that Jim and I shared.

I am grateful for the strength that God gives me to carry on after the loss of so many my age.

Grateful that I can come here in the middle of the night and share with you.

Congratulations to you, Grtgrandpa. (I made a typo that said "Brtgrandpa," like "Brightgrandpa!" )

I am sorry about Jim's passing, but very glad he spent the last twenty years sober.

Grateful to have had to go all the way downstairs to the hospital cafeteria twice--otherwise, I would not have bumped into my daughter's friend coming in to do her clinical studies!
