Why is the 6th month period considered one of great importance in recovery?

That's a great question. I wonder that too. My guess is that in general post acute withdrawal is thought to peak then so you might look forward to feeling much better from then on in. I hope others ring in on this and have experience. If you reached 6 months congratulations!

I haven't heard anything specific about the significance of the 6 month mark but, for me, it was when my foggy brain syndrome began to lift.

Thank you! My counselor had just mentioned that 6,9 and 18 months were crucial. I don't know why..

I'm looking forward to my 6 month marker later this month. I've heard that the neurotransmitters in my brain are likely to have healed by then. I don't know how true this is, I suppose it must depend on how much damage had been done. But 6 months is a psychological boost for me.

It's an interesting question.
