Today I am grateful for being with my parents as a sober daughter. I told them I stopped drinking and I could see the relief in their faces. While they really have no idea the extent of my consumption (we don't live close to each other) addiction runs hard and strong in my family, and my mother has been sober for several years. Today we both are. They both told me I seem different, better, and offered their support. I'm grateful to be enjoying my time with them rather than scheming for the next drink. And the next.
