Grateful to be living in recovery on this 4th of July, awakened early by fireworks.
No worries living in retirement for 22 years, so it doesn't matter what time of day I get out of bed and walk over to the computer and tell the world how great it is.

Grateful to live in a free country, but even MORE grateful to be free from the bonds of alcohol.
Grateful for some much-needed extra sleep this morning.

Grateful for everyone and everything that protect my freedoms.
Grateful that I stopped abusing my right to the pursuit of happiness.
Grateful that my son is healthy and happy, and if he's some kind of a 21st century hippy, at least he's not living with me!

you know what? I'm going to be grateful today for my jail time.
I am going to walk in that place tonight and be GRATEFUL that it is all I am facing, unlike some of the others there b/c they injured someone else.
I'm going to be GRATEFUL, I am sober and taking this seriously.
I'm going to be GRATEFUL that once the next 5 weekends are done, I can move forward and onward and upward, with a new life experience that will have changed me.

A little late with the gratitude today, but here goes:-
Grateful to see a good friend and to catch up on some old times
Grateful to have a brilliant meal on a balmy evening by a beautiful beach
Grateful - oh, so grateful - that the meal and surroundings were nowhere near as triggering as they were last year and I had no desire at all to drink
