I dont mean to bring it back to elf, but I haven't thought of that movie since I was a kid. lol I tried explaining it to my mom saying I remember waking up at 5 am and watching the brown thing and u guys yelling at me to go back to bed!

I am grateful for my kids being heathly and me, too!

That's cool, Eddie. I never read them, but after seeing the movie, I am thinking about it. Books are always better than the movie. Last night I went to Yours, Mine and Ours. Wait for the dvd..........lol. King Kong is next on my list........

Have a good day everyone. I will remember to keep my attitude of gratitude.

Hi everyone,
Here's a little something from the late, great Ian Dury that I am very grateful for:

:approve: :approve: :approve:
Reasons to be cheerful (part 3)

Some of Buddy Holly, the working folly
Good golly Miss Molly and boats
Hammersmith Palais, the Bolshoi Ballet
Jump back in the alley add nanny goats

18-wheeler Scammels, Domineker camels
All other mammals plus equal votes
Seeing Piccadilly, Fanny Smith and Willy
Being rather silly, and porridge oats

A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome, we can spare it - yellow socks
Too short to be haughty, too nutty to be naughty
Going on 40 - no electric shocks

The juice of the carrot, the smile of the parrot
A little drop of claret - anything that rocks
Elvis and Scotty, days when I ain't spotty,
Sitting on the potty - curing small pox

Reasons to be cheerful (part 3)

Reasons to be cheerful (part 3)
Reasons to be cheerful - 1, 2, 3

Reasons to be cheerful (part 3)

Health service glasses, gigolos and brassies
Round or skinny bottoms

Take your mum to Paris, lighting up the chalice
Wee Willy Harris
Bantu Stephen Biko, listening to Rico
Harpo, Groucho, Chico

Cheddar cheese and pickle, the Vincent motorsickle
Slap and tickle
Woody Allen, Dali, Dimitri and Pasquale
balabalabala and Volare

Something nice to study, phoning up a buddy
Being in my nuddy
Saying hokey-dokey, singalonga Smokey
Coming out of chokey

John Coltrane's soprano, Adi Celentano
Bonar Colleano

Reasons to be cheerful (part 3)

Hahahaha Richie. Thanks for the early morning chuckle. Just wanted to say how grateful I am that I am feeling better about myself each day. Hope everyone has a great day.

Sherry

BTW- where is everyone?

eddie z. 12-17-2005 08:12 AM

Well, my power was out Thursday and Friday, Sherry, so today I am grateful to have it back on.

Thank you for that song, Richie!! What album is that on? I don't believe I've heard it.

Hey, Alycia!! Good to see you on this thread, too!!

As much as I am grateful for the power being back on, it was kind of nice Thursday night to sit in front of the fire with my husband and read by candlelight.

I am also grateful that my baby cat Marcel's foot seems to be getting better by itself and that I probably won't have to take him to the vet. He has been hopping around on three legs all week, but I've caught him putting a little weight on his bad foot today, so I hope it will just get better on its own.

What are folks up to this weekend?
Love and hugs,
Eddie :brain

I'm glad you liked the song Sherry and Eddie.I tried to find a link for the music but could not.Eddie, that is from a compilation album called Reasons to be Cheerful.Check out this link-http://www.iandury.co.uk/
Have a great day everyone.

Phinneas 12-17-2005 12:14 PM

Hey! Been missin' you guys.

I've had a tough week. Car is in the shop for the second time this week, plus it got broken into the one day I had it home. It's a big mess and I don't even know if I will have it for Christmas. :thumbsdow

I went to the doctor yesterday for depression meds (Effexor) and found out I have bronchitis. I was up all night coughing and I feel terrible. :yuck:

Eddie - I've never had bronchitis before. Anything I should do to get better faster?

Wish I had some festive news. Hang in there, friends. ((((hugs))))

sherbear5104 12-17-2005 12:46 PM

Glad to hear that everyone is surviving. Sorry bout the bad news Phinny. This too shall pass. I know it's the last thing I wanna hear when life stinks, but it's true. Hugs to you Phinny. It will get better.

Glad you have power again, Eddie. I've been missing ya. Thought maybe you were stuck working a whole bunch.

Speaking of work......I have to get ready. Have a great night gang.

Sherry :)

eddie z. 12-17-2005 08:01 PM

Phinny,
Sorry about your car! As far as getting better faster, the ol' rest and fluids should help.

Thanks for the link, Richie! I'll have to check that out soon.

Hey, Sherry!!

I just came back from our annual women's NA Christmas party. We had a gratitude meeting, so I've kind of already shared my gratitude tonight, but I suppose I can still come up with some more. Like I'm grateful that I went to the party and had a really nice time with other women in recovery.

And I'm also grateful that I was able to make some food (biscuits) and contribute a gift this year, even though I ended up with the gift I took because of the way the gift exchange worked. I'm really glad I'm giving gifts this year. It feels good! Although I haven't managed to decorate much at home, I feel more involved and connected this year, cooking, gift-giving, party-going, and so forth. Now if I'd only use the phone more. LOL.

Good night, friends!
Love and hugs,
Eddie :brain

Hey everyone...
grateful to be here. Phinny--sorry again about your car. I posted over in the Recovery forum where you started the thread. I, too, am getting sick AGAIN but nothing as bad as Bronchitis. Just some sinus drainage. Annoying but not too bad.

Glad to see everyone here and doing well. I'm okay...sad because I lost my kitty a week ago and it's really hard to get past that idea that he's no longer sleeping on my bed when I wake up. But, I'm doing what I can to get through this and I hope everyone here is doing the same!

Here's a picture of him. Please say a prayer for Ashley and myself that we can get through this Holiday season pretty much unscathed for the most part!

Thanks everyone for being here.

Ooops...wrong again. I knew something didn't quite sound right. I was thinking "garnet" and not claret.

Sometimes I really just need to turn off my brain and not over-analyze everything!

:) Danielle

sherbear5104 12-19-2005 09:04 AM

Prayers are going out that everything will work out for all of us. Hope everyone has a great day. I have to work in a bit. I have to work on Christmas day, too, but it is double time. I work a mid day shift so I will be able to watch the kids open presents, go to work for a few hours, then come home and eat Christmas dinner; that I won't have to cook.....LOL.

May God watch over all of us!

eddie z. 12-19-2005 06:38 PM

Danielle,
What a beautiful animal! You know I understand how much you miss him. Your post made me cry a little which you may know is a rare thing. I really feel for you, honey.

Tonight I am grateful that I went to the little volunteer lunch at the library. I miss working there. And the cake was really good, too. LOL.

I am also grateful that when I balanced the checkbook tonight, I found we have about $100 more than I thought. Cool! Now to pay the bills...

Love and hugs,
Eddie :brain

eddie z. 12-20-2005 06:14 PM

Tonight I am grateful that I have not been sick in almost two years!! I was commenting on that on another thread. It is almost bizarre to me to have not even had a cold, although now that I am working and regularly in close quarters with other people, I'll probably start picking up bugs again. But it's wonderful to be healthy for so long.

I am grateful, too, that I got my biscuits made for our work potluck tomorrow. I used "light" butter and they look a little funny, but they should taste fine nonetheless. At least I hope so. I'm just glad to have it done so I don't have to get up a the crack of dawn and do it. I hope people like them.

Good night, all!!
Love and hugs,
Eddie :brain

Richie 12-21-2005 04:21 PM

:elffight
I am grateful that we got some Christmas smilies.
Also that I am off from work now until next Tuesday.
I hope everyone is doing well, and that Ashley finds his way home.
:elfmxmas

eddie z. 12-21-2005 06:53 PM

I, too, am grateful for the Christmas smilies. :elftongue

But mostly I'm grateful to have three years clean/sober today!! :elfshock

Love and hugs,
Eddie :MrsClaus

Richie 12-22-2005 09:16 AM

I need to pay more attention to what is going on around here.
:boogy
I am so happy for you,Eddie. You are very special here at SR,and probably the biggest reason I check in here as often as I do.
I'm puttin' on the Clash for you tonight.
:headbang:

eddie z. 12-23-2005 05:18 PM

Aw, gee whiz, thank you, Richie!!

I am so so so grateful for my boss. When I told him I had three years clean and thanked him for giving me a second chance, he said I was doing great! And tonight, when we left work, he gave me a hug. What a guy!

And I am grateful to be off over this holiday weekend. Now I need to get some presents wrapped...

Love and hugs,
Eddie :elfgrin

eddie z. 12-24-2005 02:25 PM

I thought I should post my gratitude BEFORE I open my presents tonight so that I'm not too materialistic. LOL.

I am really grateful that my husband and got TOGETHER and did some housework for once. Now we are more or less ready to have Christmas dinner here tomorrow.

Also grateful that I got to go tan and go to the gym today. I didn't do either one all during the week, so it was good to get back to it.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas full of peace, love, and joy!!
Hugs,
Eddie :brain
