Grateful for all of you here at SR, for you truly understand what it was like to be an alcoholic and you also appreciate the joys of now being sober.

Grateful for another day sober.

I am grateful for having no Valentine this year. Yes, I am!
Grateful because in early sobriety it would've been a bad idea. I would not have stayed sober! I needed all my energy to learn how to be sober and secure in my own skin.
I needed to understand that everything I now have is built on this uncompromising sober foundation.
And as it was, several big stressors and changes occurred these first two years.
I learned how to cope with them alone and soberly and for that I am grateful.

Grateful I cried last night at not being able to buy my Mom a Valentines card and gift.
And then grateful that I didnt stay focused on myself and instead thought about my Dad and prayed for him.

Grateful my coworker/friend's second grader made me a valentines card and stapled a red heart lollipop to it.

Love you all!

lose a wife get another wife

There is an elder statesman in Maryland AA who says lose a job, get another job. Lose a wife, get another wife. About 20 years ago, he went to moscow and married a Russian woman. I walked up behind this lovely blond in a bikini at Ocean City. She was bending over the back of a chair with her arms around an older man. When I got to the front of the chair, I saw it was the elder statesman from my AA meeting with a replacement for the wife he had lost.

Rusty, did you replace the one you lost?

Grateful that I can make my husband smile and laugh.
Grateful that for the first time in years and years, I know how important that is.

Grateful for laffs here.

Grateful for a wet morning.
Grateful that I have identified that coffee may be the cause of a small digestive upset I've had for the last few months.
Even more grateful that I know I can give up the two cups a day I currently drink if I have to: a year ago giving up alcohol would have seemed impossible.

All the same I am grateful for paracetamol this first coffee-free morning.

Grateful for another sober Saturday.
I was going to say grateful for my morning coffee, but that just seems mean now.
Grateful for Marcher (((hugs)))

Morning all,

Love V xx

Grateful for the body pain from shoveling snow yesterday for the widows in 7 houses because doing the next right thing is sometimes painful.

Grateful I did not break any bones when I fell on the black ice getting the morning paper.

Grateful my wife stayed in the house or she would have fallen and rebroke her shoulder.

Now I know why old people move to Florida.

Oh my goodness GrtGpa!! I hope you are not sore from your fall!
But you must be already sore from all that shoveling!!
Please be careful as your wife needs you and so do WE!

Grateful after years of doing my own shoveling the HOA at my new home has it done for me! Hallelujah!

Grateful that I will see my Dad on Sunday and grateful he better not have been shoveling! Not after two back surgeries in the fall!

Grateful my Dad has endured five surgeries in just over two years since my Mom died and he has done it with grace and perseverance and is still kicking.

Grateful for a new day!

The contractor for our HOA is not doing what they are getting paid to do. Welcome to Montgomery County, MD.

My barber told me that 45 of his customers have moved to the coast of Delaware.

Grateful that I'm sober so I was there for my son when he needed help yesterday.
Grateful that he feels he can lean on me.
Grateful that I was able to raise his spirits a little, if not his prospects.

Grateful for a new medication from my shrink. Hope it helps. Grateful I'm starting to like him better. Grateful for my mom and the subtle, but important changes seeming to be happening in our sometimes challenging relationship.

Have a great day all!

Oh grtgrandpa get better, ouch! I googled "black ice" because others have mentioned it too, I see it's quite hazardous.

Grateful for a rainy Sunday morning.
Grateful for the good smells coming out of my kitchen.
Grateful to watch the Sochi games barefoot, in t-shirt and shorts. The contrast is a hoot.
