Grateful for a good night's sleep. Grateful for my new therapist, doctor, and I'm working on being grateful for my shrink...Hope it will come.

I've been fighting liking them or accepting them because I didn't pick them and they're not letting me run the show (self will run amok, we'll we all know where that's gotten me!). During my walk I realized that God doesn't always give me what I want, but I often get what I need!

I feel like I'm walking through an apocolyptic (sic) world and it's bending my point of view and I am finally giving in to what God wants for me, well, as often as I can. I pray for His will, and then I fight accepting it. Grateful to be working on it!

So grateful for my sobriety today. Have to remember to pray for 24 more. And I'm remembering my SR family too.

You all are the best! Have a great day. I'll be checkin on you later...

my Mom's quote

"There is a destiny that makes men brothers, none goes his way alone, what we put into the lives of others, comes back to our own".

I am grateful for the love I receive from all of you beautiful people here on SR who are not bad trying to get good but sick trying to get well.

"that's the miracle of it, it just happens"

So grateful to have spent some time with my nephew and God son. I haven't seen him in so long. He has turned into such a beautiful young man, physically and spiritually. Hope maybe he will come around a little bit more.

Grateful for answered prayers and the challenges my mind has to figure out. Grateful I found a church close by for morning mass and morning prayers that I will be going to in a little while.

Grateful for SR as I am experiencing complete insomnia, hoping it's not going to flip into a manic episode, but I have somewhere to go in the middle of the night that is safe, fun and interesting!

Grateful for a beautiful sunrise.
Grateful a long trip today won't be in snow or rain.
Grateful for the thought "I want to be the best person I can be" instead of "I can't drink."

Grateful to hear from an acquaintance by email. He is about 15 years sober and he wrote:
"Two years...thinking back...oh my, it's only starting to get way different for you. It gets pretty amazing. Hold on for the ride!"

It made me smile and feel hopeful. Everyone always says such things with an air of mystery and a: "You'll see!" Wink wink quality! It must be true since everyone says it! Lol

Grateful for hope and grateful for surprises.

Oh, it's true EQ and after 2 years you know it's true.

After 8 years I walked into Dr. Bob's home in Akron, read the sign on the kitchen wall which read "welcome home".

I sat down at the table with the coffee pot that Bill and Bob used, and I wept like a baby that a wretch like me could recover and belong to such an incredible group of people.

I have tears of joy right now as I right this thanks to you with 2.

We change, things get different and everybody notices. ((((((EQ))))))

V, I am so grateful for the love gifts that I have received from AA and recovery. I did not know what was wrong with me until at age 54 I met people just like me and I fitted in and I belonged just like here on SR.

My AA friend T drove me to Akron in his Lexus, and we stopped at the National Football Hall of Fame on the way. We went to an AA meeting at the University of Akron. We had photos taken in front of the Seiberling guest house where Bill and Bob first met.

Then a man from Chicago, a Nun from Minneapolis, and an oldtimer from Cleveland drove us in their SUV to Dr. Bob's grave where we all knelt and thanked God for our recovery.

AA is the one place made up with people who would not normally mix, and I have become friends with strangers like those in Akron all over the world.

Gratitude is not a big enough word for the feelings I am experiencing today trudging the road that God laid out for me between ages 54 to 82 and it ain't over yet.

Cannot say enough how incredibly grateful I am for the wisdom and love of grtgrandpa.

For those like me who may be worried that we are too old for a new life (I turned 51 on Monday gulp), how can we not see the power of this man's amazing example?

I am so grateful for the experience, strength and hope shared here.

So much love,

V xx
