Grateful to be a member of SR where today I have the opportunity to congratulate all of you on this thread who are celebrating the rewards of recovery and the extended life that results from living sober.

Grateful for the AN program - I didn't realize how much it's changed my life until I was with family members yesterday & many of them commented at how much better I seem.

Grateful for the juicy turkey cooking in my oven right now. The cat & I are looking forward to a delicious meal tonight.

Grateful for this time off work to rest & recuperate from many things, not just this nasty cold bug.

Fourth Day and so grateful...

This is my fourth day waking up without:

stomach pain
bowel problems
insane thirst
guilt, shame, foreboding
wondering what emails/texts i sent when i was in blackout mode
taking four ibuprofen to calm the pounding in my head
discovering i did, indeed drink both bottles of wine

Instead, i woke up at 8:15 and stayed in bed to finish !READING! a book! I then got up, drank some water and took my dog for a loong walk.

Then came to post here and read the inspiring posts of other dear members.

I am so grateful for this forum! And for the continued strength to recognize how destructive and harmful i had let my drinking become.

Grateful to feel like crap from flu and know it wasn't booze that slowed me down...no emotional remorse, just sick and waiting it out till I feel better

Grateful to get through a day of entertaining yesterday where my guests enjoyed the food and company.
Grateful that when AV started and there were open bottles of wine everywhere I picked up my knitting needles instead of a wineglass.
Grateful for the hydration sparkling water with fresh strawberries gave me so that the hangover effect is feeling great today.

Grateful for 2013 which has been a good year for living sober along with the other 27 years for me thanks to the Grace of God that saved me in 1986.

To grtgrandpa: your day sounds like a wonderful experience. I especially love the Speaker meetings. I listen to them online as my walking is limited currently. It reinforces what we know and keeps our purpose in front of all else: to stay sober and help others to achieve sobriety (even if they don't think they need it). Have a wonderful day and love your posts. I am a grandma so we share many common things. So far, my Grandchildren have shown no interest in Alcohol, Thank God!!! Ipanema
