TIAGF the snow removal yesterday as freezing rain and snow has arrived today, and I am enjoying the warmth of my house and the delicious cake that my wife baked yesterday.

Today, I am grateful that on Feb-21-14 my brother who is a substance abuser will have made it to 49 and that I a former alcoholic will have made it to 60 on Feb-22-14. Although we used to be tight like thieves before I stopped drinking 3 to 4 years, we now have a very strange relationship with little or no communication. I had no idea we had nothing in common, but then again, people make their own decisions and I can't control anyone. But God knows I am grateful, so very much.

So happy you are sober and have God in your life!! I wanted to share with you that I have seen many family dynamics such as yours and you Brother. I have observed, and even in my own life, that if we keep God in our hearts there's a good possibility that things may change. Maybe send him funny cards once in a while. If he has a hobby you could ask him about it...you have much to offer your bro and I can feel your pain. I bet he comes around much sooner than you could imagine.
