The Gratitude List
ValA002:If I look back to the beginning of my sobriety, The Attitude of Gratitude gives me great joy.
I look back at the end of my drinking and see I was in a personal Hel.l I never need to return there again...don't have to drink (and die) no matter what!!tyou

Couldn't have said it better lovely xxx :-)
The attitude of gratitude helps me because:
My life today is like a different planet from my life a year or so ago, and I am truly grateful for the people and experiences that have made it that way.

The Attitude of Gratitute helps me through trust issues and fear of retaliation from a family member. I have had to back off from helping her. She has gone back to work with children 13 and 16 and claims she and her husband both can't be reached at work, insinuating that I have to step in. If I don't help she won't let me see the children. I know this is an Alanon issue and have a meeting tonight.

The attitude of gratitude brings me more things to be grateful for.
The quote I always remember (& try to say to myself many times a day) is:
"Happiness is not getting what you want, but wanting what you have"
The attitude of gratitude truly brings miracles into my life

The Attitude of Gratitude helps me avoid resentments by focusing on Gratitude.
The Attitude of Gratitude reminds me that I only have a daily reprieve from full blown Alcoholism.
The Attitude of Gratitude allows me to focus on what I have thanks to You God, my Higher Power.

The attitude of gratitude helps me see how good I really have it...I am leased with everything I need, and then some. I have an amazing life with amazing experiences and wonderful people. The attitude of gratitude helps me stay sober. Simply taking a minute to be grateful to not be hungover reminds me how god I have it. How good it is to be here, on the couch, with my books and journal and pen and sound of the rain, the smell of the coffee ...and I'm not to sick to appreciate it. I cleaned the kitchen, my living space is tidy, I have a day off, and no guilt or shame as I read and relax. When its time to get up and move around I'll do so. So grateful for the past 73 mornings I've been hangover free and haven't had to call out of work. .I never want to lose site of that gratitude.
Because just sitting here, and not being sick from drinking, not being drunk, not being high, and not obsessing over when I can get high, is a remarkable thing.

The Attitude of Gratitude helps me stay sober when I am reminded when I hear a struggling addict and see what they are going thru.
The Attitude of Gratitude helps when, now sober, others who helped me now need help. I am limited physically but sometimes people just need to talk.
