... the fact that while I have not completely stopped drinking it is no longer a daily all-consuming part of my life. This is something I remind myself of through memories- or lack of memories- of that time in my life whenever I am tempted to drink excessively again.

Great Job, Raeth! Yes, this is something to be hugely grateful for. Progress not perfection can be applied this way as well, IMO. If cutting back works for you so be it. Time will tell if this is what works in the long run or not. There are many paths in recovery as each of us is a separate individual with unique characteristics. Out with the dogma, in with the freedom to choose our own path. Let's celebrate our diversity!
