Wow, A whole year today!
I can hardly believe it. A whole year today. I stopped after last memorial day, so June 1st is close enough. I don't recall the exact day, just that I had said enough is enough.
I want to thank this site in general as without it I would have relapsed for sure. Some times I think that I can just have one in a social gathering because I no longer crave alcohol. But then I come here (about 1x a day) and read the posts by people who thought the same and had a bad relapse. So for that, I am grateful!
I have now "graduated" to Dee's 1 year club, hope to make it to 10 and 20 and then - off to infinity!
P.S. The past two weeks, I spent with friends who drank to drunkeness every day, went on a brewery tour and other events (work related travel) and all I drank was diet coke! Plus I am at my goal weight of 183. No more anxiety attacks at all either. Life is great! Thanks again.

Congrats!!! I'm only on Day 4 after many tries at quitting - the longest I've lasted was 6 days so I'm getting close. Reading your post really gives me hope that not only can I quit but that one day I'll be strong enough to go out and socialize and just drink Diet Coke or Club Soda without craving alcohol or caving into pressure from friends about not drinking. Congrats also on your goal weight! That's another thing I'm focussing on right now but it seems to be slowing creeping off even after a few days of no booze.

Way to go Jeff - your post inspired me to keep plugging along here on day 43. I hope you continue to see the wonderful things that a sober life has to offer.
I'm grateful today for my health, my family, the support of AA and my new friends, the fact that I have a place to live, that I have a job, a newfound opportunity to live life, and that I can look forward to a very peaceful and promising future as long as I stay sober and live life on life's terms... one day at a time.
