Went to the old Philadelphia neigborhoods of my ancestors - narrow streets, row houses, no grass, barred windows, flat razor wire streched like Christmas lights, abandoned factories and houses, and lots of congestion with cars and people. Grateful that I have decent shelter, plentiful food, great medical care, a sufficient income, and the moxy for the last 8 months to live without booze.

Not to offend anyone but just returned from visiting Istanbul, Turkey, and I'm grateful to live the U.S. where I take so much for granted. It made me grateful for things we consider small....like having a clothes dryer, being able to buy tissues and napkins easily in the grocery, flushing toilet paper down the toilet, not having traffic that is totally crazy and watching everyone run through stop signs, for no smoking that means no smoking in businesses, etc. I could go on but so happy to be back, and now I think that NYC and Boston traffic are nothing...LOL.
