I was awakened an hour earlier than usual this morning by my son's exuberance over the fact that it was snowing. I'm grateful that he no longer fears approaching me, awake or sleeping. I'm grateful that I can share in his joy and pain. I'm grateful that I now add more joy than pain to his life. I'm grateful that I now see the world for what it is and can accept it as it is. Most of all I'm grateful that I woke up, that I woke up sober, and that I don't have to drink today no matter what...
