Part 2 - Horselover's 10 nightly gratitude items.
More then grateful for all my SR family and I seriously mean that. No joke!! SR got me over the hump and into sober living quite literally.
Grateful this Thursday night for -
1. God providing everything we need through those that love us. My mom once again came through and brought us 5 bags of pellets. She wants us to have warm mornings. I just through a blanket over son while get breakfast going, but her way is better.
2. Cold snap almost being over. 25 degrees is too cold for this time of year and that's what we woke up to.
3. Heated seats in the van. They're so cool. Oops! I mean warm!!
4. Pumpkins carved, costume made, candy bought and Halloween may now happen.
5. Son's school having their annual costume parade and then classroom parties. Should be so much fun.
6. Full sober life.
7. Husband and son.
8. Beautiful animals.
9. Gorgeous sunset tonight.
10. SR and my family here.

Saturday grats:
1. again working my way out of a funk...somewhat...what will be will be...whether i want it to be or not.
2. grateful for financial security...because things could be much worse...i could be chewing my nails instead of getting a manicure.
3. grateful for TRUE friends near and far.
4. grateful that i do not have to work this weekend in addition to getting 2 days off last week.....wheeee!
5. grateful to know that I am not a total loss.
6. grateful for RULE#62 of course, my mantra.....like i said, things could be much worse.
7. grateful for exercise and the ability to move instead of creep or waddle...it's true what "they" say...your body is your temple and i should NOT desecret it with 10 halloween almond joys.....save some for my neighbors kids!
8. grateful for my pets who worship me and love me like i am the best thing next to meatloaf treats.
9. grateful for really good haircolor that i can do like a pro with highlights for $7.00....
10. grateful for having a "slush-fund" that I contribute to almost daily...by taking my lunch and making my own coffee and baking breakfast bread, ham and egg sandwiches.
11. grateful for never giving up, i've been very close, but i never throw in the towel...there is always a tiny little glint of hope somewhere in the poop.
12. grateful for respecting myself, not being foolish and every day getting up and putting one foot in front of the other....not giving in to depression. one of my smarter moves.
13. grateful to know signs of my illness and how to combat them in the way that is best for me..

Grateful this Monday for -
1. Yet another awesome possibility/opportunity on the horizon! We'll see what happens.
2. Electricity coming back on after being out 5 hours last night. We still don't know the cause, but boy was it great to have it on when we woke up this morning.
3. Modern conveniences. Shall I never take them for granted.
4. Son having tomorrow off. Going to take him voting with me. Give him a sort of field trip type day and then off to the Wild Animal Park in town. Good day ahead.
5. Good health.
6. Energy returning.
7. Deciding to listen to my inner voice that told me to call doctor's office to see what happened with my blood test results from over a month ago. Very high cholesterol and so now have to go into discuss diet, exercise and meds with the doctor.
8. Grateful to know that I can do this through diet and exercise and don't have to be on meds. This may be the kick in the butt I needed to shed those 15 pounds I've been wanting to and to eat healthier.
9. God's nudge is sometimes all we need to make improvements in our lives. Just have to listen and that can be hard.
10. Being sober which also is thanks to God and to SR. Another very positive change in my life.

Thanks Fandy. I actually do eat the Steel Cut Oats everyday. Started back when husband was diagnosed with Diabetes 5 years ago. I need to cut out ice cream totally and butter and eggs and eat more lean meats. See the thing is I know what I need to do, BUT its the doing it part I have trouble with.
Me too Reubena - me too! So Fandy . . .
Grateful this Tuesday night for -
1. Being able to vote and have a voice.
2. Showing my son what his responsibility will be once he's old enough. He came out singing "My Country 'Tis of Thee." LOL!
3. Having fun walking the Wild Animal Park. Love going there and should do it more often. Good exercise and its in the great outdoors. 2 good reasons!
4. A beautiful, fun day with my son.
5. Having time to get some things done this morning before leaving the house.
6. Food in the cupboard and being able to resist the bad stuff.
7. Our cat that puts up with a fun loving overly energetic son.
8. Good health.
9. Love for God that is everything to me.
10. Being sober and being happy to be sober. Sober and happy - good combo!

oh sorry, i fell asleep before 10pm last night...completely forgot you all.
the big secret to awesome affordable highlights (or low lights)...are 3 items and a good eyeball of measuring.
a small paper or plastic dixiecup, a Q-tip to stir, and a child's toothbrush (a new one, don't share it with your kid)!
buy your favorite haircolor, mix a few ounces equally of color and developer and save the rest for next time....stir well with Q-tip....dip toothbrush to grab small amounts of hair (ask for help in the back...even a man can do this)...be sure to brush in your temples to help cover and blend.....you can wrap the colored strands in foil if you need to (just like they do in the salon)....leave it on the correct timing and VIOLA..you have some highlights...after rinsing and conditioning.
I also think that "less is more"....easier to do it again the following week than do too much...be sure to stagger to avoid looking "striped"....
I can use a regular LOreal kit about 3X....i have ash blonde hair with lots of gray and hate that line of demarcation.
Wed. grats:
1. grateful to be wiser and not fall into the same old trap of destructive behavior
2. grateful to be patient and silent
3. grateful to have good things in my life to focus on to keep me away from #1
4. grateful to have an excellent job and salary
5. grateful that i am not foolish (most of the time)
6. Rule #62
7. grateful that my depression is at least managable if not completely gone.
8. grateful I am making progress with managing my behavior and anger
9. grateful for my new energy efficient furnace that saves me $$$ every month.
10. grateful for believing in Karma...what goes around comes around.
hopefully i will be back later for some additions.
