Grateful for Pattee the Sommelier (...)

this is so damm awesome...

friday, i saw a listing for a tag sale 45 minutes away,

as i do not venture to far, unless it looks good, something said, go to this one...

after arriving, the rain was getting heavier, and the people were rushing around trying to get things under cover...

i gave a lending hand...

after the women, who i have to say had some special way about her i noticed, said, there is loads of furniture around the back in the basement...

as i entered, i saw a lot of used furniture, no real antiques...

in another room, i noticed over 12 boxes on the floor, all filled with 19th century Booze!

i just couldnt believe my eyes!

this is such a rare find, and off in a corner, were about 10-12 wooden cases, all unopened!

i went through the boxes, all oozing, molding and reaking, and found three that had dates of 1818-1811 on them...

the lady said 2 bucks a bottle...

i went on my way, and thanked her...

when home, i told nan about this special women, and decided to go back on saturday...

when there, she said go right on down, as i have to get rid of all of this...

i brought a box, and said, i will only take what will fill up the box...

back upstairs, we talked a bit, and she and i stopped, and she looked at me, and asked impishly, are you a friend of Bill's?

ya might say so, a-yep!

as it turned out, she does house clean outs, and has a little second hand store,

and has just made her one year mark!

she said look at my litle boy, how grateful i am for him today,

and he now has a sober mom...

we will hook up in the future, as she might have me handle the Vintage Madeira's and Sauternes for her,

and her little boys future...

she said she is not ready to be around all that booze...

when home, nan freaked, and also laughed at my days treasures...

only by the Grace of God, and the 12 Steps of A.A.

would i be able to be around that much booze, and not have one iota of a thought of drinking it...

such another paradox this is,

boozed nearly killed me, now, it can be a financial gain for that women, and her family...

will let you all know the outcome,

last night, the first two bottles went up on ebay...

empty, of course...!

the full ones, Christies, here we come!

Grateful for following my Road...

oh yeah S

heres how it went down...

9/5

it looks like God has other plans...

haven't herd back from that lady...

no bigy,

am making some financial gains from what i have purchased from her,

and when all sold,

let it rest, and move on...

i have to say,

last night was the first time i had a booze dream...

i wasn't drinking it, it was just around me...

i wonder why? lol

9/7

still haven't herd back

and selling off the last of the empty bottles tonight...

you all wouldn't believe what their selling for!

top lot was $202 for one empty bottle...!

heres the little Star

"Disclaimer I do not endorse running around the countryside looking for old booze bottles!"

and how strange sara,

just this morning,

the lady called back,

she's still sober, and working hard on her recovery...

she told the story to her sponsor, and her sponsor said,

"see God does put people in your life for reasons!

were going to meet on Wednesday,

and see if i can find any more winners!

i guess i can now say,

To Be Continued!

S

the latest

i put the last bottle up for auction, as i knew it would be a help towards the funding of my new teef

well, it ended last night,

much to my chagrin at a wopping $566.00

real grateful for that!

and here's the star of the show

it turns out, that bottle was one of Peter von Scholten's

hers a little info on him...

Birth: May 17, 1784
Death: Jan. 26, 1854

Was first the Harbor Master of St. Thomas and later Governor General of the Danish West Indies. On St. Croix on July 3rd, 1848 Governor General Peter Von Scholten declared the emancipation of slaves in the Danish West Indies. The United States later bought the islands in 1917 for $25 million (US-VI), as part of its military defense strategy, to prevent the islands from becoming a German sub base.

grateful to keep on do'n that next right thing eh!
