Grateful for TV, I know I said that on bedtime, but when it's the quarter finals and there's no TV for ten hours...well I had the BBC web site live tennis but not quite the same thing and it kept streaming BUT better than no tennis!!!
So much to be grateful for
Recent posts on the gratitude threads really got me thinking about my new life.
Yesterday, I was able to do some of favorite activities:
- Spent the morning fishing – listening to my favorite music (light rock – Coldplay, The Fray, Fleetwood Mac), enjoying nature, the peace & solitude.
- Mountain biking down the nature trails by my home – amazing old trees, a beautiful lake, wildlife.
- A trip to town with my family – Canada Day celebrations, ice cream parlor.
- Evening at home watching football on TV (Canadian Football League season openers).
I woke up well rested, no hangover. I went through the day without those old constant companions – alcoholic obsession & fear (it’s sad that so many people live like this everyday). And I went to bed at peace knowing that I would sleep well, no need to drink myself to sleep.
I guess what I’m saying is that sobriety & the 12 steps have made this all possible. I no longer just go through the motions – my life appearing good on the outside but living an inner hell.
I can now truly appreciate everything I have been blessed with. And I have been blessed with so much.
And even though I have been sober for many days, I can’t take all of this for granted.
