Morning Gratitude through the Night! part eight
Some days, I get those little reminders of what is truly important in life.
Today is my son's "portfolio day" - the kids put together their best work and present it to their parents.
This morning, I told my son that I might not make it, meetings all day. Mom's out of town so she definitely wouldn't make it.
I mentioned it during my meeting and my colleagues told me to go...family is more important.
My son was waiting all day. We got some lemonade and a snack and sat down to go through his portfolio. He was so proud of his artwork and stories. And I told him that I am so proud of him. When I left he just stood there staring at me with a big smile, not a word. A boys love for his father.
On the cover of his portfolio, he was told to write words that described him. He wrote "nice", "happy", and "lucky".
I think I'm the lucky one.
Thanks everyone for your thoughts & prayers. It does help keep my family strong.

One moment at a time.
The hospital that my mother-in-law is at is 2 1/2 hours away. My wife came home late last night, packed some clothes and is heading back to the hospital. She is traveling with her brother, I'm very happy about that. No scary phone calls last night so we can assume that all is as well as it can be. The first 72 hours are critical.
My mother-in-law was totally normal 4 days ago. Had some chest pains, local hospital, next thing you know, major heart surgery. Unreal. Each day is a gift - truly.
Today, me and the kids are going to visit some good friends that we haven't seen in a bit. The kids are gonna have to get used to dad's cooking for a while.
Everyone have a good day and live your life to the fullest. Right now, I so much appreciate everything - I have been blessed with so much.

Grav..praying for MIL and family. We went through this with my father. He survived it.
Grateful for Providence..from RZ's electric slides to my near miss on the freeway,
a room friend had one this week too..she's still shaking.
My mom is still here, a young pastor's wife survived a stroke a few days ago,
an elderly man returned another room friend's purse with everything in it.
My purse returned at a bus station last month...I could go on and on with
recent examples. A reminder to look at positives when they happen, and
not walk away and forget.

I looked up Providence to see what it means (I had a general idea).
I like this definition: God or nature seen as a protective force that oversees people's lives.
As my family goes through these difficult days, we have received so much love & support. From the skilled surgeons to friends opening their homes to us to simple phone calls of concern, offering comfort. We are never alone. God works through people. Right now, everything is okay.
Looking back, it has always been like this. All of the good things in my life, escaping those many near-misses, the love & help of others just when I need it. Not that everything in life is pleasant or happy - more like it's all part of Gods will - and He is a loving God, no doubt.
