Morning Gratitude Through the NightPart Seven
On the road again.
Yesterday was a tough day. Exhausted, cranky, but I did okay (Note to self: don't think too much when I am really tired).
Excellent sleep last night (in a hotel, I usually toss & turn), no meetings until 1PM. Time to catch up on some loose ends, go to the exercise room, relax a bit. Started the day with reading and a prayer. Nice to get this little break in the middle of a hectic week.
Was thinking about my old life. Hotel room, bars everywhere, no work obligations in the morning...that would have been automatic - call a drinking buddy (or not), get hammered, maybe sober up in time for my afternoon meeting.
I love waking up sober. Really. No guilt, no sickness, no fear...just peace, gratitude. I also love that I was not even tempted to drink yesterday despite the exhaustion, stress - that's really something. Can't forget where I came from and take things for granted.

Thanks RZ, Lbad!
I got home last night just in time for my 12 step commitment group (2nd time through the steps for me ). I had told a couple of guys I wouldn't be able to make it (they told the group) and I got a really warm welcome when I rushed in ten minutes late . Friends! SR and AA! Something I did not have last December. Really fortunate and grateful.

Facilitated a strategic planning session today. Grateful for the courage to say what needed to be said and saying it in a kind way. That little prayer this morning might have had something to do with the courage .
grateful that the Pond Man Hat is retired for the season...
we came so close to finishing the pond...
grateful that we decided instead of freezing our buts off, rushing to finish it, we'd wait for next spring to finish it...
hows that think'n for two alky's?
grateful to go find another hat to wear for the day...

least, give yourself a pat on the back. Living life of life's terms, facing our challenges, not drinking or even wanting to drink. Knowing that we can get through it, that a better day is ahead. That's really something. Maybe that's recovery right there!
