Thank you so much, Lbad.

I truly know this deep down inside but my thinking keeps making an issue of it.

My issue is that I put some money into education funds for my children and the stock market crisis has devalued it by about 1/3. Yes, the economy will recover and my kids will not need the funds for at least 10 years but I find the situation to be heartbreaking. I'm trying so hard to be a good dad. It will pass and we are okay. Feeling a bit better about it with each passing day. Acceptance is taking some time on this one.

I just opened my 401k quarterly report and I had to just close it and walk away... I get it and I have some empathy...
My current BF is a financial analyst and he told me, "Everything is OK. We will recover eventually. Just close the mail and stop looking for now." lol He said, "90% of my assets are in the market and I am not panicking yet." and he has A LOT more money then me...
It is painful and scary...
Everything is already ok though..... You are sober, everyone is healthy and all needs are met.. period. What a relief.

He is 100% correct. The mistakes I made were to obsessively watch the stock market fall and read all of these doom & gloom amateur opinions (columnists, politicians, blogs). I even read one report comparing this to the depression and how they had to eat squirrels! Just freaking myself out! I finally came across an article, the opinions of the top financial planners in the USA - "it will recover, stand fast, don't panic, don't obsess". I am letting it go, haven't read a market report for almost a week.

Everything is already ok though..... You are sober, everyone is healthy and all needs are met.. period. What a relief.
Exactly. I have everything I could wish for. Last night, I was watching my kids playing - beautiful, healthy, happy, and safe. My wife and I teasing each other and laughing. I feel so blessed, so grateful.

Thanks for your post. It really does help. Everything is good today and we just have to keep moving forward, clean & sober, doing the best we can.

Grateful all of my needs are met today..because I am not even sure what my wants are.

Everything just seems to fall into place 'as it should'.

Take care, least. It will pass. I said a little prayer for you. We all have our difficult days and we are here to help each other.
