I don't wonder what I did last night during a blackout or feel like an ******* because I said or did something stupid while drunk. My mind isn't tortured by fear or self-hate. Years ago I stood at the window of my aparment watching people stroll around on a lovely day like this: I was an isolating drunk and avoided leaving home. Today I'm one of those people

Today I have a life. Today I decide not to drink. My prayer is simple: thank you, help me stay sober today and help another alcoholic.

It doesn't get any more complicated than that.
