First time in a loooooong time I've been awake and aware after nightfall - usually by that point I'd be conked out after a binge. Anyway, the fireflies were out among the trees as it got darker, and I just sat there watching them and being grateful that I was sober. Lovely!

That's a great thought, crayola. I was born in Illinois, but I've lived in Arizona since 1970. Last summer my kids and I traveled to Michigan and Ohio, it was my second summer sober, and the first time in 36 years that I'd seen fireflies. This coming weekend we'll be in Ohio again. I'm grateful every day for my sobriety, for the chance to see the smallest gifts in life, like fireflies.

Grateful that even though hurricanes have chased all our south florida (!) fireflies away, someone is keeping an eye on them...in the beautiful summer dark. thx for the vision, crayola~
