New to the madness

I am so thankful for this site. I don't feel so alone.
Let me start by saying that my AH and I have been married for 9 years. I've only known him sober until 11 months ago. He had 18 years sobriety.
That's when my hell started.
It began with him taking loritabs when ever he had an excuse.
He then graduated to pot. All the while thinking he could control it.
Then he went to coke and meth and eventually drinking.
I never imagined that I would be living this nightmare almost a year later but here I am.
We are separated and I am finally learning to take care of me and stop obsessing over his drug use.
I'm still hoping for a turn around but I realize that this may be the new normal.
He says he wants to quit but I know he's not serious.
It's just lip service and manipulation.
Thanks for listening.

Congratulations for setting a boundary and taking care of yourself.

If he had 18 years of sobriety, that means he knows how to get sober when he wants to.

It seems you already know that if there is any chance of a turnaround, you have no power to create it. To accept what is gives you the freedom to create a life worth living whether he turns around or not.

Wishing you strength and clarity.
