Son is going to rehab!
After not hearing anything from/about son since his last phone call from jail, I got word today that he is getting sent to a long-term rehab program. If he completes all stages of the program and stays clean for a year after that, he will have his record expunged. He will be transferred there later this week. I can't even begin to explain just how thrilled I am! Finally!!!
That is such good news. When we mamas step back and let the story unfold without our interference/love/manipulation/fixing it often has a happier outcome.
I will keep your boy in my prayers, it is amazing that jail can be on the path to recovery, in this case leading to rehab.
Hugs

Fantastic news! I will keep him in my prayers and hope that he absorbs all there is to help him and he has a complete recovery. What a wonderful gift. From one mom to another I know how much this means to you and for him. Hugs.

Thank you all! The long term program has several stages. It starts with a 6-10 months residential phase, then 3-6 months at a sober living facility, then there's an outpatient program. I hope so much that he will find the strength to go through the whole process. I read about this program online and knowing my son, I believe it really suits his tendencies/personality - a structured environment with very clear expectations. Knowing him, he thrives in such environments. That's why he did so well in the army and liked it so much. I can't wait to see how it goes. Thank you again!

Lovemyson101,
So it is a 9 - 16 month residential program plus an outpatient follow up -- that sounds terrific! Assuming that he is fully committed, he could not be in a better place with a greater chance of beating his addiction.
Keep coming back,
Jim
